JOB DESCRIPTION:
- To lead and supervise all design activities in Factory Automation & Smart-Factory project teams to meet customers’ requirements.
- Interpret the requirements, translate to proposal & conceptualization for new machine/equipment.
- Liaise & follow-up with customer on project proposal, subsequent project activities & development.
- Monitor & follow-up on project team to ensure a smooth work flow in the manufacturing & assembly process.
- Lead & mentor project & design reviews with customer’s requirements & feedback on project matters.
- Follow-up with vendors on matters related to the project.
- Perform detail designs & critical drawings.
- Liaise with respective vendors & suppliers for quotations & fabrication after PM’s approval.
- Lead meetings & review on design requirements & specification.
- Be mentor to provide guidance to design engineers/assistant engineers in their job scope, including detailed designing, selection of materials/standard items, checking of drawings etc.
- Draft machine testing protocol (especially for critical function) enabling the manufacturing team to test run machines.
- Ensure that all project documents, drawings & materials are updated and appropriately documented and compiled accordingly.
- Lead & team up with cross-disciplinary teams on smart factory technologies & projects.
- Ideate and build robust data and digital technology driven solutions for advanced manufacturing/industrial processes.
- Leverage AI & robotics-integration solutions to meet automation & real-time needs.
- Other ad hoc duties as assigned by the company
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Possesses minimum 4 years of related working experience, preferably having experience as Lead or Senior Design Engineer
- Experience in automation design, Factory Automation and/or SMART Factory platform
- Having a mechanical engineering background is an asset
- Working experience in mechanical design apps/software, e.g. INVENTOR, 2-D AutoCAD, etc.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
