SENIOR MECHANICAL DESIGN ENGINEER (PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT / R&D)

We are recruiting for a market-leading multinational, with 165 employees in Ireland, with sites in the UK & Europe.
The R&D Team is based in North Dublin (D15) and the R&D team of 10 is expanding!
We are looking for a highly experienced Mechanical Design Engineer with expertise in:
SolidWorks, Product Design, Engineering First principles, Technical Documentation Mgmt., Prototype building, Porrect Management / Project Lead, GD&T for CAD Drawings
Experience with Heat Pumps, HVAC, Piping, Sheet Metals, or similar would be advantageous

The company provides a broad range of scope for Senior Product Development / Mechanical Design Engineers looking for autonomy and control over interesting projects.

• Full-time – Onsite (Straight Days - Monday to Friday)

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE FOR THE SENIOR R&D ROLE

• A Mechanical, Mechatronic or Industrial Design background with at least 7 years experience in Mechanical Design Engineering
• Ideal candidates would have pipe work, sheet metal, HVAC industrial experience or similar experience
• Strong proficiency in CAD software (e.g. SolidWorks and AutoCAD, or similar)
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Experience with design for manufacturability (DFM) and designing products for cost-effective production

THE ROLE IN DETAIL:

• The role includes leading and managing Research and Development of new and existing products, reporting to the R&D and/or Project Manager.
• Responsible for delivering robust technical solutions to complex problems.
• Work closely with the R&D management team. The Senior Design Engineer will be a central part of the R&D team, taking care of Part & Product Design, Bill of Materials Control, Product Testing and Production Support, where required.
• Lead and manage research and development of new and existing products and components- ensuring they meet technical, user, and business requirements.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Quality, Sales, Production, Technical and Product Management, to define project goals, deliverables, and success criteria.
• Design, develop, and implement innovative solutions, prototypes, and proof-of-concept models based on project requirements.
• Conduct design reviews, provide feedback, and incorporate changes based on testing and stakeholder input.
• Mentor and guide junior engineers and designers, sharing best practices and technical knowledge.
• Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources to ensure on-time and on-budget delivery.
• Participate in the selection of materials, vendors, and manufacturing processes.
