SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Degree in engineering discipline or appropriate experience
  • Working towards Chartership, CEng (IMechE, IGEM or similar)
  • Knowledge of COMAH regulations, and the duties that an operator of an upper tier site is required to undertake.
  • Knowledge of DSEAR and the duties of a business operating installations containing dangerous substances
  • Experience interacting and managing relationships with the Health and Safety Executive
  • Familiarity with Installations containing or transporting Hazardous substances (Natural Gas, Petrochemicals etc) and the typical processes found on them
  • Excellent negotiation and Influencing skills, as you will be liaising and dealing with differing functions across the business
  • Strong organisational and project management skills associated with supporting differing scopes simultaneously
  • Able to respond to changing circumstances and manage conflicting priorities. Promoting and supporting a culture of continuous improvement
  • Ability to deal with more complex issues that may require a more bespoke solution. Lead meetings and track resolution of actions across various levels of stakeholders towards closure
  • Self-motivated and able to operate with minimal supervision
    Good analytical and problem-solving skills with a desire to utilise and implement new technology

Responsibilities:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Engineering team provide technical expertise and guidance to operational and delivery teams to drive regulatory compliance and ensure our assets are fit for purpose. Day to day you will be resolving technical queries, updating Engineering policies and procedures and reviewing deviations on policies for sign off.

  • Within our mechanical team provide comprehensive knowledge and support for meeting statutory and regulatory obligations
  • Lead in influencing and shaping the statutory, regulatory and company standards framework with respect to engineering, and ensure all required statutory documents are in place
  • Provide advice and sign off on risk assessments and hazard mitigations plans for discipline
  • Ensure that the learning from incident reviews and investigations are communicated with action plans delivered
  • Develop, recommend and implement improvements to engineering processes to improve efficiency and quality of the service provided to stakeholders
  • Assure programme of works in place to follow up remedial works arising from inspection, maintenance and surveillance activities, and provide appropriate evidence to external stakeholders, e.g. HSE, Ofgem.
  • Lead the scope development, review and technical acceptance of work undertaken by external engineering consultancies
  • Responsible for the engineering technical integrity of responses to Technical Queries and Deviations (referencing company standards and specifications)
  • Provide engineering expertise to formal process safety assessments (HAZOPs, HAZIDs, etc)
  • Represent the company on external industry panels (IGEM, UKOPA, ENA, TSF etc)
