REQUIRED COMPETENCIES AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in mechanical project management experience in the construction industry.
  • Successful completion of post-secondary Mechanical Engineering program or equivalent.
  • Well-organized with the ability to prioritize workload to meet deliverables and customer expectations
  • Well-developed problem-solving skills with the ability to find solutions and incorporate them into existing practices as needed.
  • Proficient English oral and written communication skills. Able to follow verbal and written instructions and complete required paperwork accurately.
  • Possess the ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • Able to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Able to use MS Office suite
  • Experience with Procore and Accubid Enterprise is preferred.
  • Possess Class 5 Driver’s License.

Responsibilities:

  • Works closely with the Construction Manager, Superintendents, Foremen, Project Coordinators, and Estimators to optimize assigned projects.
  • Oversee co-ordination of all information on secured projects.
  • Create and manage purchase orders, contracts, and agreements with vendors.
  • Lead preparation of estimates for change notices on secured projects.
  • Coordinate the delivery of materials to project sites, ensuring timely arrival and adherence to project schedules.
  • Develop and implement procurement strategies to support plumbing and HVAC projects.
  • Source, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers to obtain the best pricing and terms for materials and services.
  • Monitor inventory levels and anticipate project needs to prevent delays or shortages.
  • Resolve any procurement-related issues or discrepancies that may arise during the project lifecycle.
  • Maintain accurate records of procurement activities, including costs, deliveries, and vendor performance.
  • Assigns and reviews workflow of Project Coordinators assigned to projects.
  • Provides technical assistance and mentoring to staff as required.
  • Collaborate with the Construction Manager on the coordination of the personnel and equipment resources to meet established project schedules.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, market conditions, and new products to make informed procurement decisions.
