Description:

ReOrbit is looking for a Senior Mechanical Thermal Architect to join the team to be based in our HQ in Helsinki, Finland.
Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team this individual will be part of a team leading the full end-to-end life-cycle of the mechanical and thermal activities. This is an important position in the company as it will contribute to the direction we take with the development of our thermo-mechanical systems. It’s an exciting opportunity to be involved from the beginning in projects that are pushing the boundaries of existing space data technology.
Due to the pivotal nature of this position it’s important we find the right person, not just the right skills and experience (although those of course are important!). We are looking for a versatile engineer, who is confident to get on and get things done, big on teamwork and is flexible in their approach. We need someone who enjoys working with partners and suppliers and feels comfortable asking the difficult questions.
This person should bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise of working on satellite thermal and mechanical systems, specifically with geostationary satellite experience.
We feel that being around the team in person and available to be hands on with the hardware on a regular basis is important. Therefore the role is a hybrid one, with time in the office each week, so being based in Helsinki is a requirement.

  • Field of view and motion mechanism design & analysis
  • Support the AIT design and implementation Flow and GSE Design/trade-off analysis
  • Satellite Alignment Strategy Design & implementation
  • Preliminary & detailed thermal design and analysis of the Thermal Control Subsystem (TCS)
  • Working with System Engineering Team in tasks such as unit accommodation, trade-off analysis, system-level FMEA, electrical architecture
  • System Modelling, Analysis & Temperature Predictions of all the related hardware in the satellite
  • TCS Requirements specification based on the previous analysis
  • TCS Design Subsystem documentation (architecture, analysis and components)
  • TCS Hardware Specification based on the previous design
