Description:

Provide a unique opportunity to develop Trauma-Informed Care at Gloucestershire NHS Foundation Trust Hospitals, commencing in the emergency department. Be supported by the Gloucestershire Quality Improvement Academy in growing Quality Improvement capability. Provide a highly visible, accessible, authoritative and influential figure on whom staff, systems partners, and regional and national colleagues can rely, to ensure the project is delivered effectively and efficiently. Provide professional leadership to nurses, midwives and AHPs at all levels, acting as a role model within the Trust ensuring that competence in trauma-informed clinical practice is both developed and maintained.
Provide assurance and reports to the Head of Quality and Deputy Director of Quality, that there is continuous improvement in the delivery of the project. This role will work collaboratively with the Mental Health Practice Educator aligned to this project and the Project team, consisting of the Psychology Service, Emergency Department Consultant, Mental Health Liaison and Complex Emotional Needs services from within Gloucestershire Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust and the Education and Development Service at GHFT. Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required: Registered Nurse/Midwife/AHP with the Nursing and Midwifery Council or the Health and Care Professions Council. Educated to Masters level (or equivalent) Extensive post-registration experience of working with adults who may present with both physical and mental health needs.
Demonstrable qualification/experience in quality improvement projects. IT skills to include Microsoft Office applications and other Trust applications as necessary Act as a lead resource for all staff, dissemination knowledge and expertise. Demonstrate understanding and implementation of trauma-informed practice, recovery and social inclusion. evidenced-based practice in liaison with the multi-disciplinary team, and participate in audit as required.
Undertake and report audit data. Effective communication, interpersonal, organizational and planning skills. Understanding of the organization and the operating environment. Ensure personal and professional development is progressed through Individual Performance Development Review and revalidation.
Leadership and management Knowledge of key areas of mental health and the core skills required to deliver Trauma-Informed Care Project. Extensive knowledge of a variety of approaches to assessment of mental health and associated treatments Experience of delivering staff defusion sessions within a restorative and just culture A conceptual understanding of the principles of recovery and social inclusion with the ability to apply to Clinical practice Excellent skills in relation to assessment and treatment and clinical management Knowledge of the clinical and demographic risk factors associated with suicide and self-harm Comprehensive knowledge of the MHA and Mental Capacity Act Effective resource management skills. Ability to analyse information Ability to prioritise work load and manage resources effectively Leadership Qualification (e.g ELO, ILM) Education and training Professional Registration in Nursing, Midwifery, Mental Health or Social Care Qualification (e.g. RN, RMN, Dip SW, CQSW) Further education at Masters degree level or equivalent experience Experience of developing and delivering and auditing professional education and development.
