Description:

We are looking for a Senior MI Analyst to join our Collections & Recoveries - MIS Analytics team. Collections & Recoveries works to help members who have fallen behind on their mortgages, loans, or personal bank account payments. In MIS Analytics we are responsible for making sure our colleagues have the information they need to best serve these member’s needs.
As a Senior MI Analyst, you’ll be accountable for a varied portfolio of work that can include anything from developing new automated reporting, providing your analytical expertise to project teams, or enhancing the information available in our BI tools. You will also take part in a range of analytics projects where your skills will help us get the most out of our data and generate actionable insights for the business.
You will be provided with a comprehensive set of tools to accomplish your objectives including SAS, SQL, Python, Qlik Sense and Power BI packages. If your experience lies in other analytical applications, don’t worry, you’ll find that the team provides a supportive environment to learn these new skills.
There are some exciting initiatives coming up that you can get involved with, helping us shape the way information and insight are delivered in an ever-evolving business.
For this job you’ll spend at least two days per week, or if part time you’ll spend 40% of your working time, based at either our London, Northampton, or Swindon office. ABOUT YOU

We are looking for a dedicated and responsible Senior MI Analyst with:

  • Experience in the financial services sector and knowledge of Collections & Recoveries business processes and main aims.
  • Experience of ETL processes and demonstrate excellent analytical ability with the capability to source, integrate and interpret data from multiple sources.
  • A good understanding of relational databases from a querying and reporting perspective.
  • Experience with at least one data handling or statistical application/language, ideally SAS (Base SAS, SAS Enterprise Guide, SAS Data Integration Studio, Viya), SQL (Microsoft SQL Server Management) or Python (familiarity with libraries such as: pandas, Matplotlib, NumPy etc.).
  • Effective stakeholder management, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with an interest in advanced analytics and statistical analysis techniques.
  • BSc degree or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities:

In your day-to-day role as a Senior MI Analyst, you will be:

  • Develop contributory data extracts for operational, regulatory, and financial reporting that will drive key business processes and decision making.
  • Act as a primary point of contact for questions relating to data sources, reporting and individual metrics managed and utilised by the department.
  • Utilise your knowledge and expertise of the data sources available to clean and profile data for complex models.
  • Communicate and present results from reporting and analytical findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders using dashboards, visualisations and regularly maintained documentation.
  • Utilising statistical techniques derive new and insight rich information to the business through the integration and exploratory analysis of data from disparate sources across the Society.
  • Support strategic change by taking ownership of a portfolio of deliverables and responding rapidly to business requests for data and information. You will be regularly evaluating the effectiveness of strategies implemented and managing stakeholder expectations to ensure decisions are data driven.
  • Contribute to the analytical capabilities in the team and collaborate to promote best practices.
  • Research and encourage the use of new methods, tools, technologies, and techniques in the team.
