TRAINING & EXPERIENCE

  • Completion of a post-secondary education program in mine technology/engineering, or equivalent.
  • Minimum 8 years’ experience in the mining industry with 3 years in mine planning.
  • Experience in mine design and scheduling is essential with preference to individuals who have used Deswik.
  • Ability to organize workloads and modify priorities in a dynamic fast-paced continuous production environment.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills with a proven ability to work with others.
  • Strong analytical skills with Excel is required.

Responsibilities:

PURPOSE

Provide technical support to the surface operations (including Hollinger and Pamour Open Pits) by developing data driven strategic plans (physicals and associated costs), tracking compliance to plans and assessing the impacts of any variance to plans.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Generate the surface operation 3 month to 2 year production plans aligning with the approved budget using Deswik scheduling tools based on data driven production assumptions.
  • Derive headcount and equipment hours required to achieve the forecast to support cost model updates in XERAS, working with technical team cost analyst and the Asset Management teams.
  • Effectively communicate the forecast assumptions, plans, physicals and equipment resources to all stakeholders highlighting the critical tasks to keep the operation on track to meet forecast and align with budget metrics. Include SWOT assessment for forecast.
  • Update monthly, production and equipment metrics (using MineStar data) to identify trends in historic data then advise on trends and demonstrated performance for strategic decision making.
  • Track compliance to plan for the following purposes:
  • Understand any variance and its impact on the one month and 3 month plans.
  • Identify opportunities to improve performance
  • Identify threats/risks to be mitigated for successful performance.
  • Generate meaningful charts, figures, or graphs of the analyzed data to show identified areas of potential improvement to justify recommendations for a strategy change.
  • Meet regularly with the Mine Engineering Coordinator to discuss short term performance trends and document learnings that can be incorporated into the next forecast.
  • Analyze spatial and physical compliance data, as well as demonstrated equipment metrics, at the end of each quarter and deliver findings in a Post Mortem presentation.
  • Other supporting tasks as outlined by the Technical Services Superintendent.
