THE OPPORTUNITY
MinRes is seeking highly skilled and experienced Senior Mine Geologists to join our dynamic team at our Wodgina Lithium Mine, one of the world’s leading lithium operations on and 8x6 roster. Reporting to the Superintendent of Geology, you will be responsible for leading geological activities to support mine planning, and production, ensuring accurate and timely geological data is provided for effective decision-making in the mining process. Working closely with mine engineers, geotechnical specialists, and other stakeholders to optimise resource extraction and support safe, efficient, and sustainable mining practices.
- Develop and maintain geological models for the orebody, incorporating geological data from drilling programs, field mapping, and geological observations.
- Collaborate with mine planning to ensure the geological model is up-to-date and accurately reflects the orebody.
- Perform regular reconciliation between geological models and actual mining performance to improve model accuracy.
- Prepare technical reports and presentations for senior management, highlighting key geological insights and operational recommendations.
Mentor a small team of Mine Geologists and Pit Technicians, providing guidance and training to develop their skills.
Your Experience and Skills:
Bachelor of Science (Applied Geology) or equivalent is mandatory.
- Demonstrated 6 years’ experience working within an open pit production environment. Hard rock experience is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in geological modelling software and database management systems.
Strong understanding of grade control processes (RC-GC highly desirable), geological mapping, resource estimation and mining and milling processes.
About Wodgina
Located 110 kilometres by road south of Port Hedland in the Pilbara region, Wodgina is one of the largest known hard rock lithium deposits in the world. As a Tier 1 asset, Wodgina is central to MinRes’ Lithium division and its large village hosts 900 rooms.
