Description:

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Proven experience in defense as a Senior Network Security Technician.
  • Strong knowledge of applying cybersecurity controls and practices aligned with zero-trust architecture principles.
  • Expertise in network security, including firewalls, NAC, security monitoring, network automation, logging, and auditing.
  • Must have Hands-on experience with Fortinet, Ansible, and Cisco products.
  • Proficiency in Nutanix, VMware, and hypervisor technologies.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team.

DESIRABLE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, and PowerShell.
  • Familiarity with Australian Defence Force environments and networking constraints.
  • Knowledge of Australian Information Security Manual (ISM) and US National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) frameworks.
  • Experience with SEA2273 Minerva systems.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Compliance with US International Traffic in Arms Regulation (ITAR) for handling export-controlled ICT products.

Responsibilities:

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIRED FOR THIS ROLE:

  • Must have a Negative Vetting 2 (NV2) security clearance
  • Must be an Australian Citizen
  • Adherence to US International Traffic in Arms Regulation (ITAR) Clearance
  • Mon to Fri - office hours

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead the design, development, and transition of cyber solutions aligned with best practices and governance frameworks.
  • Spearhead activities related to firewalls, their automation, and integration using BGP and OSPF.
  • Design and implement Network Access Control (NAC) systems.
  • Integrate firewall and network security tools with monitoring toolsets, including SIEM.
  • Maintain and upgrade cyber tools proactively.
  • Provide operational support and develop comprehensive documentation for solution designs and standard operating procedures.
  • Collaborate with vendor specialists to optimize designs and achieve desired outcomes.
  • Support Validation and Verification (V&V) activities and assess technical risks to provide mitigation options.
