JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for business development and generating new sources of non-ferrous scrap metal from the local market to supply plant requirements of raw material at competitive costs. Forecast monthly buy plans by working within RSR goals for volume and margins.
Office location: Richmond, BC
Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:30am - 4:30pm
Salary: Commensurate with experience (~$100,000 - $120,000 + bonus annually)
QUALIFICATIONS:
- College Degree or Diploma of Technology in business or engineering required.
- Minimum 5 years prior experience in the scrap/metal recycling business or in a related field, preferably in sales.
- Must be knowledgeable about all aspects associated with sourcing and purchasing non-ferrous scrap metal as well as being cognizant of current domestic and international market conditions to provide an optimum total cost approach.
- Negotiating skills that combine the characteristics of a professional relationship and a well-developed strategy.

Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the scrap procurement program for non-ferrous supplies at RSR plant.
- Applies expert knowledge on recycling non-ferrous materials and commodities market pricing, supply/demand trends, etc. to help influence commercial supply.
- Responsible for non-ferrous materials pricing decisions.
- Gathers and communicates appropriate and timely market information on pricing and availability of supply of raw non-ferrous materials.
- Maintains good business contacts and favorable relationships with current supplier base to ensure monthly supply requirements are met.
- Negotiates pricing with all suppliers within established monthly pricing guidelines to meet both forecasted volumes and contribution margin goals in line with RSR strategy.
- Generates new sources of supplies for non-ferrous scrap.
- Maintains up-to-date records of supplier activity in Salesforce.
- Assists and coordinates with RSR’s Transportation to arrange logistics of purchased material to RSR plant, at the most economical cost and to meet plant processing schedules.
- Responsible for achieving monthly volume and contribution margin targets in line with RSR Strategy and budget expectations.
- Assists in developing strategic plans for new business.
- Develops and tracks monthly actions plans to maintain and grow scrap supplies.
- Champions and ensures all safety and environmental programs are implemented and policies/procedures are followed.
- Reports/Communicates with Commercial Manager on activities and schedules to meet assigned objectives on a weekly basis.
- Interacts with the Operations Department to ensure consistent scrap quality for non-ferrous metals is delivered to the plant. Communicates “Scrap Acceptance Policy/Agreement” to all suppliers and documentation to that effect is on file.
- Support the development and growth of the Commercial department. Participate in the hiring and training of new Buyers.
- May be assigned to special projects or will be required to perform other duties not listed to meet company needs.
- Extensive travel required, throughout Western Canada territory, expected to make visits to current and prospective new customers. Visits to scrap source and suppliers may involve overnight stays (cost covered by RSR).
