Description:
THIS POST IS FIXED TERM/SECONDMENT FOR 9 MONTHS DUE TO FUNDING.
We are looking to appoint a Senior Radiographer/Clinical Technologist to provide clinical leadership within the Nuclear Medicine Department at Singleton Hospital in Swansea. The ideal candidate will be a qualified Diagnostic Radiographer with current HCPC registration or a Clinical Technologist with current RCT registration and with documented experience.
This is a nine months temporary position. The suitable candidate will be expected to provide expert support within the SPECT/CT imaging and DXA sections of the department which comprise two state-of-the art gamma-cameras with CT diagnostic capability and 3 DXA scanners. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing training and guidance to junior staff.
A static PET/CT service is likely to be implemented within the Department of Nuclear Medicine at Singleton in the next 1 year to 18 months. That expansion will originate further opportunities for permanent positions within our service. The post-holder will be placed in a prime situation to identify career progression opportunities and to observe future role expansion prospects. This is an exciting opportunity to take part and lead change in a currently fast developing setting.
This is a temporary post for backfill the reduced hours of two members of the team within the imaging service in the Nuclear Medicine department.
The department of Nuclear Medicine at the Singleton Hospital (part of Swansea Bay University Health Board) is a busy academic imaging department operating two diagnostic state-of-the-art SPECT/CT cameras (one of which is a UK-first with multiple CZT detectors), three bone densitometry (DXA) scanners, a brand new, purpose-built, radiopharmacy, a therapy section and a mobile PET/CT service. The Singleton Hospital is situated next to the sea in Swansea, and is also adjacent to the Swansea University (Singleton Campus), housing highly-rated science, pharmacy and medicine departments.
The Radiographer / Clinical technologist will be expected to provide technical support across the full range of Nuclear Medicine Services, and in particular support the Imaging and DXA services.
If a suitable candidate with the necessary level of experience cannot be identified, we will consider offering the post at a band 5.
The ability to travel between sites in a timely manner is essential.
The ability to work flexibly is essential for this post.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply .
