Description:
JOB DESCRIPTION
Perform nursing administrative duties and provide nursing leadership under the general direction of Assistant Director of Nursing in setting and maintaining quality standards in the delivery of nursing care, resource allocation, staff development, and accountability for the overall performance of the department/s.
REQUIREMENTS
- Valid registration with the Singapore Nursing Board
- Diploma or Degree in Nursing or equivalent.
- Master in Nursing Administration/Management/Advanced Leadership Diploma/Degree Qualification or equivalent is preferred.
- Post-Basic Specialty Certificate/Advanced Diploma in Nursing or equivalent.
- A valid BCLS and AED provider certification.
- At least 10 -12 years of clinical experience in acute care facility.
- At least 5 years of experience in senior management/leadership role or as a Nurse Manager in acute tertiary hospital.
- Experience in human resource management, coaching, counseling and manpower planning.
- Desired leadership behaviour, aptitude and attitude.
- Good clinical and administrative skills and knowledge.
- Competent in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS project and etc.
- Systems thinking – cares about the whole as well as the parts.
Responsibilities:
- To oversee the implementation of clinical nursing standards, policies and procedures and to ensure compliance to the hospital established guidelines and policies.
- Lead and promote clinical safety and risk management practices in collaboration with related departments; including implementing nursing quality improvement initiatives for enhancing delivery of care for the customers.
- Facilitate hospital occurrence reviews by promoting open reporting and a non-blame culture; and a lessons-learnt critical debrief with recommendations for preventive reoccurrence and improvement.
- To be responsible for the overall orientation, induction, mentoring and clinical competency assessments including planning for nurses’ career progression.
- To effectively communicate the company’s vision, mission, core values & nursing strategies to the nurses in the unit.
- To set department goals and objectives in consultation with the clinical team.
- To conduct daily ward rounds to ensure customer satisfaction, resolve & follow through service/quality/medico-legal issues, including staff feedback.
- Participate in various hospital operations and committees.
- Provide leadership in the succession planning, recruitment, selection, development and retention of nurses and allied healthcare staff in collaboration with the Human Resource Department.
- To evaluate performance of staff and conduct performance appraisals for Nurse Clinicians and Managers, and others when needed.
- To oversee in the exercise of expense control system by ensuring that charges are captured accurately and accordingly by the staff.
- Other duties as assigned.
