These busy facilities with a versatile range of patients inclusive of frail, mental health, sub-acute and assisted living, are situated in prime locations across the Western Cape:
An opportunity has become available for a Half-day Senior Nursing Service Manager within the Southern Suburbs, to manage the following facilities Tokai Estate, Cle Du Cap, Noordhoek Manor
The Senior Nursing Services Manager leads and oversees all clinical and nursing operations within the healthcare facility, supported by Senior Shift Leaders who manage day-to-day shifts. This role involves close collaboration with the Multidisciplinary Team, and medical professionals to ensure exceptional care.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • SANC registered as a Registered Nurse.
  • Management qualification advantageous

Experience:

  • Proven experience within a similar role
  • Experience in geriatrics advantageous
  • Strong nursing and clinical experience
  • Experience in a similar leadership position
  • Recent hospital experience
  • Knowledge of Dementia care, Frail care, sub acute, palliative care, rehab, strokes

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

  • Leadership skills: Ability to lead a team of nurses and healthcare staff effectively, ensuring smooth operations during shifts.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Problem-Solving: Capability to make critical decisions, solve complex problems, and handle emergency situations calmly and efficiently.
  • Critical Thinking: The ability to assess situations, identify causes, and develop effective solutions.
  • Proactive Problem-Solving: Anticipating potential challenges and addressing them before they escalate.
  • Adaptability: Being flexible in adjusting approaches when initial solutions aren’t effective.

SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS:

    Working Hours - Normal working days are Monday to Friday, 07h00 to 13h00.
    As the manager of the facility, you are required to be available after hours to tend to emergencies
    Salary on offer from R30 000 per month 20 days of annual leave and exposure to both internal and external training.

Responsibilities:

OPERATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure that there is strict adherence to medication policies by overseeing proper storage, distribution, and documentation. Conduct regular spot checks of medication cupboards to verify stock availability and ensure no expired medications are present.
  • Oversee that all patients care plans are loaded onto the healthcare system
  • Ensure care plans are accurate and patient-specific
  • Regularly monitor care plans to ensure they are updated to reflect ongoing health changes or assessments.
  • Ensure that the Senior Shift Leaders have identified and addressed potential risks to patient safety, implementing preventive measures and updating the care plan to reflect accurate.
  • Collaborate with a Multidisciplinary team on resident care.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care processes and outcomes.
  • Manage emergency care response, referring residents to appropriate facilities when required.
  • Ensure high-quality care and compliance with best practices and regulations.
  • Ensure facility checks are completed on a daily basis
  • Manage the staff rostering by checking the roster daily alongside the Senior Shift Leader to ensure full staffing and proper shift deployment.
  • Oversee uniform compliance and ensure all staff adhere to the required dress code, with distinguishing devices and name badges correctly displayed.
