We are seeking a Senior Occupational Health & Safety Specialist on a permanent basis to join us on our mission.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Level 8 Bachelors Degree (240 credits) in Occupational, Health and Safety Degree or other relevant 3rd level qualification
  • Minimum of 5+ years’ experience ideally in Medical Device Industry or in a senior EHS role
  • Detailed knowledge of legislation and ability to interpret and translate such information into business policy and procedures.
  • Working knowledge of HSE management systems, aspects and controls
  • A persuasive influencer and negotiator
  • Self-confidence, maturity, discipline and a commercial approach to establish credibility at all levels in the business up to executive management level.
  • Proven ability to think strategically and maintain strategic focus while operating across many functional areas in a constantly changing environment
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully influence key internal and external stakeholders and identify external issues which will impact business performance.
  • Proven ability to act as an advocate for the development and implementation of change
  • Experience in developing and maintaining effective strategic partnerships with key stakeholders
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Very strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability to successfully implement and execute programmes and drive high performance

Responsibilities:

JOB PURPOSE

Advises and guides the company and demonstrates leadership on EHS matters to ensure the safety and health of the workforce. Ensures the company is aware of, and complies with applicable health and safety legislative and other requirements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Leads safety programmes to include emergency response, risk assessment and chemical compliance
  • Maintain plant statistic, performance to goals and other records necessary to document ISO45001:2018 Management System status and comply with regulatory requirements.
  • Represent Boston Scientific to outside parties, such as regulatory agencies.
  • Represent Boston Scientific at local and national government bodies to ensure legal Health and Safety compliance.
  • Maintain metrics for assessing EH&S effectiveness.
  • Direct all aspects of chemical handling and hazardous waste management to remain in compliance and maintain operating efficiency by assessing efficiency and cost-effectiveness, determining the most suitable method for handling specific types of waste, and ensuring that operating practices are in full compliance with regulations.
  • Works with Supervisors, Managers and Leadership to identify and control significant health and safety impacts of operations.
  • Takes a central role in working with internal committees and training efforts.
  • Ensures that all required records are prepared and maintained.
  • Participates in and prepares for EHS inspections by external agencies, and all system audits.
  • Investigates, prepares, communicates and manages reports on incidents, injuries, ill-health, and corrective actions as required
