JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Senior Operations and Project Manager is a key member of the College’s centralized Marketing and Communications team. As the College launches a new brand, website, and intranet, the department seeks a highly organized, well-rounded, customer service-oriented professional who will be the primary contact for marketing support for the campus community. The Senior Manager’s charge will be to foster collaboration with departments across campus by frequently liaising with colleagues, developing better systems and more efficient processes for gathering content, and providing essential marketing and communications support on various initiatives to bring impactful stories to life and strategically share them with MassArt’s external audiences. This individual will develop and maintain relationships with colleagues across campus, identify story-telling opportunities, gather content, manage requests for MarComm support, and conceive/develop assets to publish across MassArt’s owned media channels.
The Senior Manager should demonstrate creativity, strategic thinking, a passion for higher education and the arts, and possess a strong understanding of branding principles, marketing techniques, and project management skills. They must be adept at multitasking, meeting deadlines, and adapting to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment. Overall, this is a pivotal role in establishing the MarComm department as a service-oriented hub, enhancing the visibility and reputation of the College, fostering community engagement, and advancing the overall mission.
Supervision received: Chief Marketing and Communication Officer
Salary: $80,000 - $85,000 commensurate with experience
Position is governed by the APA collective bargaining agreement

Marketing and Communications Operations

  • Collaborates with colleagues to develop and implement a process for receiving and fielding marketing and communications project support across the College.
  • Creates centralized systems that streamline information, communication touch points to better manage departmental time and resources.
  • Identifies a new digital asset management system that better supports the institution’s needs and develops a system for receiving photo and video files from vendors and sharing assets with colleagues.

Campus-wide Marketing and Communications Support

  • Attends monthly communications content contributors meetings along with the Internal Communications Manager to learn about upcoming programs, events, and stories and identifies opportunities for external promotion. Keeps their finger on the pulse of what’s happening at the institution and maintains strong relationships on behalf of the MarComm team.
  • Assesses the best tactics for “internal clients” - faculty and staff - to promote their events and programs by learning about their programs and goals and sharing opportunities and content with MarComm team members to push out across a variety of channels.
  • Plans and executes photos and video shoots across campus. Coordinates with faculty and administration to build schedules for maximum efficiency and minimal class disruption. Ensure proper permission requirements are obtained prior to shoot and work closely with the photographers to ensure specific imagery is captured and quality and consistency are maintained.
  • Manages the relationship with the MassArt bookstore and works with the manager to produce a successful line of merchandise in the new brand. Provides branding support and product guidance. Research industry trends and gather input from students and other constituents.

Producer and Project Manager

  • Provides project management and broad marketing and communications support on various projects including print collateral, signage, promotional materials and merchandise as directed by leadership. Works with (internal and external) designers, writers and vendors for execution in the most timely and cost effective manner.
  • Acts as producer in supporting compelling storytelling and creating assets. Collaborates with team writers and hires appropriate photographers and videographers based on creative direction and project scope.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in the area of communications, marketing, advertising, or related area
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of related management experience in a decision making role in marketing and education, including but not limited to the following:
  • Strategy development and implementation
  • Creative production oversight
  • Budget creation and adherence
  • System / process improvement
  • Demonstrated knowledge of marketing and communications software platforms and ability to learn and implement new systems
  • Demonstrates commitment working with diverse populations and furthering diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
