As a Senior Outsourced Operations Manager (Warehouse) you’ll operationally, commercially and strategically focus on the management of our outsourced warehousing contract with GXO, which covers 5 warehouses and c.2.5m sqft of space across the UK. You’ll manage a significant budget (c.£80m+) as well as all associated service delivery and improvement.
You’ll also drive our transformation agenda in this space, which includes significant investment in automation technology both in-flight and planned over the next three years, working with stakeholders across transformation, technology and finance to successfully implement these changes.

Responsibilities:

ROLE OVERVIEW:

As part of this role, you’ll be responsible for:

  • Leading the governance and management cadence of the GXO contract
  • Owning the spend with our warehouse 3PL partner, ensuring they are performing in line with budget expectations and alongside the finance business partner, acting as the approver for all gainshare cost reduction initiatives
  • Partnering with the wider Currys business, managing change instigated by either party
  • Ensuring all expected service levels and metrics are met, identifying opportunities to improve service offerings, whilst resourcing adequately to meet customer demand
  • Ensuring the obligations of Currys set out in the contract with our partners are met and work closely with procurement to make necessary contract alterations where required
  • Delivering the significant automation agenda for the warehouse team, creating business cases and implementing the change to operationalise the benefits

You will need:

  • Experience working in similar or equivalent role (equivalent in size, scope and responsibility of this role)
  • Demonstrable strong commercial acumen and an understanding of the role of contracts within a logistics function, including the ability to negotiate and hold commercial discussions with suppliers
  • In-depth understanding of the fundamental operating principles for end-to-end logistics networks, including likely pain points and opportunities to drive efficiencies
  • Proven ability to manage significant budgets successfully (£80m+)
  • Highly collaborative approach with great communication skills to effectively engage and influence internal and external stakeholders up to Director level
  • Creative approach to problem solving and willingness to work through complexity/ ambiguity
  • Previous experience working with automation in a logistics environment would be advantageous
