About the role
This position is accountable for supporting the strategic direction of the Payroll and Systems team and ensure end-to-end payroll processing is completed on time. The role needs to ensure all legislative obligations are met, and any future changes are implemented in an accurate and timely manner. The position will lead a large team of payroll professionals to provide consistent and on time service delivery, as well as providing appropriate staff development and succession planning.
This role will report to our Head of Payroll and will be based at our Docklands head office for a twelve month max term role.

Key role responsibilities

  • Accountable for the accurate and timely delivery of the payment of salaries/wages, superannuation, allowances, expenses and all other payments associated with MTM’s payroll
  • Sign off and hold accountability for payroll bank file preparation and submission
  • Develop and implement work methods and techniques that ensure compliance with all legislative requirements, including Privacy, relative to a payroll environment
  • Actively monitor legislative changes, especially in relation to the NES, Superannuation and Tax and ensure any changes are implemented in a timely manner
  • Ensure all relevant awards and Enterprise Agreements (EA’s) are adhered to
  • Lead the payroll team to ensure procedures and processes are followed to meet time constraints that occur within a payroll environment
  • Develop and maintain mechanisms that permit grievances or disputes with staff to be quickly identified and resolved with minimum disruption to work
  • Maintain strict confidentiality with regard to employee records
  • Advise team members of updates to awards and policies and ensure processes are updated accordingly, including wage type changes for STP reporting
  • Lead and manage any requirements that arise due to internal and external audits
  • Develop mechanisms that permit grievances or disputes with staff to be quickly identified and resolved with minimum disruption to work
  • Provide specialist and authoritative advice in relation to the interpretation and application of Awards and Collective Agreements, allowance, conditions and ensure that policies meet the requirements of MTM particularly in the correct payment of employees

Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum 10+ Years in payroll, with 5+ at Manager level or above
  • Proven Experience leading large and complex payroll teams
  • Demonstrated ability to manage tight timelines
  • Proven ability to manage in a fast-paced environment
  • Significant experience managing stakeholders
  • Experience with SAP SuccessFactors and ADP Payforce are desirable but not essential
  • Experience working with complex Enterprise Agreements
  • Tertiary qualifications in an appropriate HR / Finance function are preferred but not mandatory
