Description:

Federated Co-operatives Limited (FCL) is hiring a Senior Payroll Associate on a temporary (up to 12 months) basis within our People & Culture team. This position is a hybrid opportunity, so the successful candidate must be local to Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.

WHO YOU ARE:

You are looking for a career in Payroll and:

  • Have a minimum of 1 year of related accounting and/or payroll experience. Preference will be given to candidates with experience related to the applicable functional area OR have 2.5 years of accounting and/or payroll experience OR 1 year of accounting and/or payroll experience. Preference will be given to candidates with experience related to the applicable functional area.
  • You have 4 progressive financial accounting courses (from an accredited postsecondary institution) OR have 8 progressive financial accounting courses (from an accredited postsecondary institution) OR two-year Business Diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution with a major in accounting.

Responsibilities:

  • Process bi-weekly pay for a portfolio of local Co-op clients, ensuring that all payroll remittances are completed accurately and within deadlines.
  • Provide professional and timely customer support to clients to address pay related issues and questions.
  • Maintain understanding of Canadian payroll regulations to assist colleagues and local Co-op clients.
  • Assist with year-end job duties and reports including T4’s and vacation payouts.
  • Receive and review payroll correspondence to update employee files and special payments including bonuses, severance, vacation pay, etc.
  • Follow up and clear error notifications received from third-party benefit providers following each bi-weekly upload submission and maintain retained insurances for employees on leave.
  • Prepare Workers Compensation Benefits (WCB) reports and remittances as required, maintain payroll forms, documents, and printed output under security, oversee disposal at appropriate times, and package and return prior years’ data to local Co-op clients.
  • Follow up on PIER reports received from CRA.
  • Other duties as required.

    You will work closely with the Payroll Services team and will report into the Supervisor, Payroll Services. This team strives to cultivate a culture of support, collaboration, and community.
