A look into the role

As a Senior People Adviser within our People Advisory team in Tax, you will:

  • Be responsible for managing and developing a talented team. People Advisory is a team committed to delivering first class client service to our people and senior stakeholders internally. You will support the People Advisory Associate Director to inspire, develop and engage the team to be at their best and play their part in achieving our ambitious growth plans.
  • Making quality second nature. This means doing what’s right ahead of what’s easy. The work that you will do has a major impact on our people, clients and our firm. We pride ourselves on the high-level standards we have for the work that we do.
  • Own your own work. Supporting the People Advisory Associate Director, you‘ll be responsible for ensuring the team deliver against our people strategy and the annual people cycle. You will also guide and coach people managers to best support their teams, including reward, health and wellbeing, talent management, retention, performance, absence management, investigations, and disciplinary cases.
  • Take responsibility for people and projects. You’ll take people management responsibility for People Advisers within the team; coaching and developing them to reach their potential. You’ll also be their first point of contact, providing support and guidance on all people matters. You’ll take ownership and be fully accountable for leading key operational projects, focusing on the design of key project milestones and outcomes to the business.
  • Build your brand. Given the importance of this role, there will be exciting opportunities for the right person to expand their knowledge and develop their skillset across the Tax business and wider firm and build a strong network of people and culture colleagues externally to share best practice.

Joining us as a Senior People Adviser the minimum criteria we’re looking for to enable you to be successful in this busy and rewarding role are:

  • Examples of how you have analysed and shared key insights from people and culture data and supported people managers and leaders by implementing solutions that have made a positive impact on their team and commercial success
  • Experience of managing people projects from design, tracking progress, and key deliverables
  • Experience of supporting the business with complex employee relations activity focusing on commercial resolutions
  • Examples of leading and developing a team and nurturing emerging HR talent, encouraging collaboration, diverse contributions from across the team, effective team meetings and individual and team CPD
  • Experience of leading on people processes such as salary and bonus review, performance moderation and talent management
  • Strong stakeholder management and project management skills
  • Track record of high-quality delivery across all areas of the generalist people and culture lifecycle, including a focus on spotting areas for continuous improvement and implementing solutions

It would be great if you had some of the following skills, but don’t worry if you don’t tick every box, we’ll help you develop along the way.

  • You’ll ideally be CIPD qualified
  • You’ll have previous work experience in a professional services environment or similar, understanding the dynamics of a partnership or working with a senior leadership team
  • You’ll have experience of collaborating in a service line structure and centres of excellence teams.
  • You’ll be confident in using Microsoft packages including Excel and PowerPoint and AI tools to increase efficiencies
  • You’ll have delivered Inclusion and Diversity interventions, to raise awareness, encourage open and honest conversations and allow people to be themselves at work
  • You’ll be passionate about creating the best possible people experience
  • You’ll have experience of managing others effectively to drive high performance and a first class internal client experience
