PavCo is the owner and operator of two of Canada’s premier venues for events, BC Place Stadium and the Vancouver Convention Centre.
BC Place Stadium is hiring a Senior People & Culture Advisor to cover a twenty-four-month maternity leave contract.
Reporting to the Director, People & Culture & Labour Relations, the Senior P&C Advisor is a seasoned labour relations and HR professional responsible for administering the collective agreement, handling grievances, conducting investigations, managing disabilities, overseeing WorkSafe investigations, and supporting various general HR activities.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:

  • Post-secondary education with concentration in Labour Relations, Human Resources and or CHRP designation.
  • 3 - 5 years Human Resources experience as an HR Business Partner or Generalist with Labour Relations experience.
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to communicate change, effectively influence and build strong client relationships with management.
  • Sound analytical, problem solving and negotiation skills with an ability to understand broad Human Resource issues.
  • Results orientation.
  • Highly organized with the ability to multi-task.
  • Strong facilitation/presentation skills.
  • Computer literacy with MS Office applications (Word, Excel).
  • Must be available to work some weekends and evenings.

The salary range for this position is $77,488 – 96,860

  • Offers will be in line with PavCo’s internal pay equity and qualified candidate’s experience and education.
  • Salary discussion and overall compensation package will be presented during initial phone interviews.

Responsibilities:

  • Build productive relationships and credibility with all levels of staff and union Representatives.
  • Provide consultation and coaching on issues related to labour relations, employee relations, attendance and performance management, employee engagement, policies, and procedures.
  • Ensure legal and statutory compliance with all regulatory bodies including the Labour Relations Act, Employment Standards Act, Human Rights and WorkSafeBC.
  • Lead the Disability and Attendance Management process.
  • Responsible for research, administration and distribution of Labour Relations documents including grievances and arbitration, meeting minutes, summaries, presentations, collective agreements and their associated documents involving unionized employees.
  • Assist the Director of People and Culture with negotiation preparation, research and proposals.
  • Learn and understand the organization as well as act as an ambassador for our people, the LR strategy and the BC Place management team.
  • Collaborate with the management team to identify and understand their needs, and assist the organization in achieving our goals.
  • Collaborate with other P&C Team members and look for improved execution of HR practice and programs.
  • Utilize HR metrics to support data-based decision making.
  • Manage and support investigations.
  • Research, analyze, prepare, and participate in Step 1 and 2 grievances and arbitrations as well as coach managers through the process and provide recommendations for effective remedies.
  • Maintain and authorize P&C/Payroll/Finance processes, procedures, systems and plans including compensation & benefits, disability, probation, performance review, leave of absence, termination etc.
  • Remain current with leading HR practices and apply when relevant.
