Description:
An opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic Pharmacy Technician to join the Pharmacy Clinical Governance team based at York Hospital.
The Clinical Governance team aims to ensure the safe and effective management of medicines throughout the Trust.
You will be reviewing policies and procedures and ensuring that they reflect national and best practice standards and improve efficiency and patient safety.
You will be monitoring practice in medicines management to ensure that policies and procedures are implemented effectively.
You will be conducting audits to identify areas for improvement and learning.
You will be producing and delivering education and training that promotes compliance with medicines management processes throughout the Trust and improves patient safety.
You will be working on service improvement projects in medicine management.

This post is open as a Band 5 position. Although we welcome applications for a developmental Band 4-5 position from pharmacy technicians registered within the last year or who will shortly be registered. This will be discussed at interview.
The postholder will undertake clinical governance duties throughout pharmacy and the Trust. They will work to ensure compliance with national legislation and medicines management standards.

Responsibilities:
Performing safe and secure handling of medicines risk assessments.
Undertaking audits in medicines management.
Writing quality reports/attending quality meetings.
Producing and delivering training for pharmacy and clinical staff.
Undertaking service improvement projects
Undertaking controlled drug inspections in wards and clinical areas.
Writing controlled drug inspection reports and improvement plans.
Investigating discrepancies and unusual usage patterns of medicines.
You must have a BTEC/NVQ Level 3 in Pharmacy Services or equivalent and be registered with the GPhC.
Experience of working in governance would be helpful but is not essential as full training will be provided. You must also be a qualified accredited checking pharmacy technician or willing to work towards this.
You must have good communication and interpersonal skills, be able to problem solve, have good attention to detail and be able to manage your own time effectively.
You will be based in the pharmacy department in York Hospital but may occasionally be required to work at other sites within the Trust.
The role will be for 22.5 hours per week (days and hours will be discussed at interview). You will contribute to the weekend rota and bank holiday rota and have a regular weekly dispensary slot.
