Description:

As an ICU (Intensive Care Unit) pharmacy technician, you will be working as part of the friendly ICU pharmacy team based at St Marys Hospital. You will be responsible for supporting your team in completeing accurate and thorough medicines reconcilition to level 2 + 3 patients. You will be involved in optimising and improving the pharmacy clinical service throught the provision of medicines management. You will be working very closely with the ICU Directorate.
This team provides medicines management support to our ICUs. This includes supporting transition of care for our patients in and out of the ICU environment, ensuring accurate drug histories and access to patient specific medicines, supporting efficient use of medicines resources on the ICUs and supervising pharmacy assistants in undertaking stock management activities on the units.
This technician post will support the high acuity and high turnover within the critical care wards and support the transitions of care from level 3/2 to stepdown wards. This post will also support cost saving plans within the directorate and within the trust by actively reducing waste on the wards
You will maintain a high standard of clinical work when carrying out medicines reconciliation and medicines management tasks. You should be a highly organised individual and be able to work under pressure towards tight deadlines.
You will be based on ICU (Intensive Care Unit) and will be working closely with the wider ICU directorate and so it is imperative they you are able to work as part of wider team and form solid working relationships that will improve the pharmacy service. You are expected to be computer literate and proactive to learn and improve the process of existing electronic systems.
You must be able to adapt and cope with change and communicate empathetically with patients and relatives. You should approach your work with meticulous attention and demonstrate autonomy in medicines management tasks on the ICU.
