Senior PHP Developer

WHAT DO WE NEED OUR SENIOR PHP DEVELOPER TO BE PROFICIENT IN?

A Senior PHP Developer at Network N needs to be experienced in building websites in PHP. Most of our sites are based on Wordpress so experience in building Wordpress plugins and themes is essential. We also have other bespoke platforms too which will all need to be looked after too.
We are starting to use Laravel more in the business so experience in that, while not essential, would be advantageous.
Senior Developers are also expected to look after our Digital Ocean droplets so knowledge of Linux-based servers is important. We use Ubuntu 20.04 and make use of Nginx, MySQL and Redis across our sites so knowing how to configure and use all of those is something well be looking for.
Knowing how to troubleshoot server issues is something that we all do a lot of - so you need to have a keen understanding of how to use logs and other services to track down problems and fix them.
Other skills and knowledge that will be useful include experience with code version systems such as Git (we use Bitbucket right now), front end development including setting up build processes for Javascript and CSS. Knowledge and experience in working with databases and APIs is also important.
Network N Media has a flat structure and youll be interacting with people at all levels of the company, so being comfortable talking through ideas and solutions with the CEO is just as important as being supportive to less experienced colleagues.

PLEASE ALSO NOTE THAT THIS ROLE IS BASED EITHER HYBRID (MINIMUM EXPECTATION OF 2 DAYS PER WEEK IN BATH HEAD OFFICE) OR CAN BE REMOTE WITHIN THE UK, WITH MONTHLY VISITS TO THE OFFICE AS REQUIRED.
