Description:
The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) is a regulatory agency that reports to the Ministry of the Attorney General. The AGCO is responsible for regulating the alcohol, gaming (igaming, casino, lottery, and charitable gaming), horse racing, and cannabis sectors in Ontario, in accordance with the principles of honesty and integrity, and in the public interest.
If you thrive in a dynamic environment and are passionate about policy lifecycle, learning & development, come and work with us, because the Strategic Policy and Market Insights Branch is currently seeking highly experienced policy professionals to play a key role in the development, implementation, and maintenance of complex and novel strategic and program policies related to its regulated businesses.
The successful candidate will take a leading role in all aspects of the policy lifecycle through research on emerging issues and trends, the development of briefing materials, policy papers, and presentations to the Board, senior executives, and stakeholders on policy related to regulatory matters across one or more AGCO lines of business with a focus on the gaming sector.
Responsibilities:
- Navigate uncertain, complex, and novel situations, identify relevant issues, and develop and execute effective recommendations and work products.
- Play a leading role in the planning, research, analysis, and implementation of projects.
- Use strategic and critical thinking skills, conduct research and analysis, provide interpretation of trends, challenges, and opportunities, and develop relevant and balanced policy options.Use your astute analytical skills and political acuity to identify risks and key considerations in developing options and recommendations for decision-makers, and to identify appropriate framing specific to the issue and audience.
- Identify trends, developments, and best practices in policy development and regulatory frameworks related to the gaming sector.
- Lead the preparation of executive briefing material to support government and agency decision-making.
- Lead responses to policy issues arising from government, stakeholders, and the public.
- Lead staff from across AGCO in a highly collaborative and consultative manner on policy development projects
