The Ministry of Education provides leadership and direction to Saskatchewan’s education, early years, library and literacy sectors. The Early Years Branch is seeking an individual who is a strategic thinker, who is client focused and diplomatic, with strong communication skills. Reporting to the Director of the Early Learning and Child Care Projects Unit, you will focus on the development of strategic projects in order to advance the province’s commitments under the Canada-Saskatchewan Canada-Wide Early Learning and Child Care Agreement. You will develop and revise policies and procedures related to Access, Affordability, Inclusion and Quality in child care Saskatchewan; providing program and policy leadership to support a consistent, efficient and effective system for an evolving and growing Early Learning and Child Care sector.
Specific responsibilities of the position include:
- Conducting research and analysis to support the development and implementation of projects to support Saskatchewan’s commitment to expand the child care program;
- Develop and design assessment and policy review functions in order to monitor and identify gaps and issues, and improve provincial supports;
- Strategic advice on capacity building, and implementation and sustainability of provincial initiatives and strategies;
- Ongoing development of strategic policy, standards, guidelines and protocols for the provincial early learning and child care program;
- Working with multiple stakeholders to develop options for program direction, and policy issues and;
- Developing tools and resources to streamline processes and enhance supports for the child care sector.
Our candidate of choice will possess strong communication and analytical skills with experience in early years policy development. Candidates for this position would typically be expected to have a graduate degree with an early childhood focus or related field, or through completion of an undergraduate degree with relevant human services experience.
