The Infrastructure Unit at the Ministry of Health is looking for an individual who has a passion for improving the patient experience, the outcomes of care and the efficiency of the provincial healthcare system. If this is you, an opportunity exists to play a significant role in guiding health system capital strategic planning, with a particular focus on capital budget development and financial management. This is a one-year term opportunity.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to use your analytical and project management skills in the development, coordination, preparation, and administration of the Ministry’s annual capital budget. You will identify and measure financial trends and issues and provide financial analysis and modelling to develop recommendations to senior leadership for capital financial planning and asset management.
You will be creative, conceptual, and analytical when assessing policy/infrastructure issues and developing options and recommendations. You will develop policies and standards to support transparent and accountable financial reporting on major capital projects and the maintenance infrastructure program. You will work collaboratively with a range of internal clients and external stakeholders on a range of issues.
Typically, knowledge for this position would be obtained through a university degree in business administration, economics or commerce, or a graduate degree in a public-policy related field. Knowledge of health economics, capital planning and capital asset management is an asset. The successful candidate will bring strong organizational, interpersonal and communications skills, and a good understanding of government administrative and financial processes, project management methods, and program/project evaluation techniques.
