Description:

Urban Edge Planning Limited has become one of the largest planning, urban design and landscape architecture focused consultancies in Wellington. We specialise in the preparation of resource consent applications, district plan reviews and plan changes, natural hazard policy, urban design, and landscape plans. We have established a wide range of clients from the public and private sectors and contribute our success to good customer service, working collaboratively as a team and delivering work at a high standard on time.
We value quality in the workplace. This represents quality work and communication with clients and stakeholders. However, it also includes a quality environment for our staff. For this reason, we hold regular staff activities, ensure a well-stocked kitchen, and encourage work/life balance.

Responsibilities:

Our specialist team of policy and resource consent planners are involved in a range of multi-disciplinary projects. These include the preparation of private or Council-led plan changes, the development of Structure Plans and the preparation of resource consent applications.
These projects often require the advice and input from other experts. While we usually cover urban design and landscape expertise in house we also frequently work with and rely on the input from external experts such as architects, ecologists, transport planners and engineers to inform our plans and achieve the best outcomes.
Our projects range from simple subdivision and resource consents to complex residential or mixed-use developments that require the preparation of structure plans and private plan change applications.
We also have a strong focus on helping Councils with the review of their District Plans and on the development of higher level policy and guidance, especially in relation to the management of natural hazards.

The main focus of the role would be on:

  • Preparing district plan changes
  • Writing provisions and section 32 evaluation reports
  • Preparing and presenting expert hearing evidence
  • Manging and leading project teams

We currently have an exciting opportunity available for a Senior Planner in a permanent role - either part time or full time. An interest in natural hazards planning would be ideal but is not necessary.
