QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of 5 years in Electro-static Powder Coating, with experience in changing over Gema automated paint systems highly preferred.
  • Experienced in application of conversion coatings, and pre-paint chemistries.
  • Preferred certification or specialized training in powder coating operations, reflecting a high level of expertise and professional development.
  • Proven leadership experience, with a track record of managing teams, optimizing performance, and driving results.
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with all levels of the organization.
  • Adept at managing dynamic environments with shifting priorities, deadlines, and requirements.
  • Highly process-orientated in functions and troubleshooting.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot effectively by tracing each step of the powder coating process and minimize downtime.
  • Expertise in troubleshooting, adjusting, and repairing equipment; overseeing preventive maintenance and planned work orders; and managing equipment condition.
  • Proficient in using computerized ERP systems for recording time, materials, and maintenance activities; ensuring accuracy and compliance with specifications.
  • Experienced in training operators on advanced changeover procedures, preventive maintenance, and effective work order completion.
  • Capable of leading project installations, supporting the start-up of new projects, and collaborating with engineering and other teams to implement continuous improvements.
  • Skilled in operating powder coating equipment, preparing parts for coating, monitoring equipment settings, and ensuring quality finishes.
  • Committed to maintaining a clean, safe work environment and adhering to all safety protocols.

ABOUT THE ROLE - JOB DESCRIPTION

Our newly launched, state-of-the-art automated powder coating system requires a driven and detail-oriented leader to help us unlock its full potential. Leveraging your technical expertise, you will play a pivotal role in optimizing the technology and driving the evolution of new products in a rapidly growing market. In this hands-on senior technician role, you will:

  • Lead and Mentor: Supervise and guide a team of operators, fostering a collaborative environment to ensure effective teamwork and high performance.
  • Optimize Technology: Apply your technical mindset to learn, optimize, and continuously improve equipment settings and configurations for superior coating quality on various product types and powder applications.
  • Coordinate with Teams: Work closely with technical support and engineering teams to refine processes and implement best practices.
  • Drive Innovation: Contribute to the development and refinement of new products, using your insights to enhance operational efficiency and product quality.
  • Manage Operations: Oversee daily production activities, ensure adherence to safety and quality standards, and manage workflow to meet production goals and deadlines.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Initiate and lead continuous improvement projects focused on powder application techniques and organizational practices, aiming to achieve best-in-class finish quality and enhanced productivity.
  • Collaborate with the engineering department to define and refine powder application settings and equipment configurations for a diverse range of products and powder types, driving technological advancements.
  • Oversee the monitoring and adjustment of pre-treatment line diagnostics, ensuring consistent chemical balance and pressure to maintain optimal substrate preparation for powder application.
  • Oversee initial and in-process quality inspections, implementing corrective actions as needed to maintain high-quality standards.
  • Lead and optimize changeover processes for powder booths and equipment, including overseeing booth cleaning, powder station setup, and programming to ensure efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Manage adherence to preventative maintenance schedules for application booths and associated equipment, ensuring peak performance and reliability.
  • Address and resolve equipment performance issues and material supply concerns promptly, coordinating with relevant departments to ensure uninterrupted operations.
  • Ensure adherence to standard operating procedures and quality assurance protocols. Provide training and guidance to junior staff on best practices and operational procedures.
  • Supervise the accurate recording of work order completions and in-process issues. Prepare and present detailed reports on operational performance and improvement initiatives to senior management.
  • Act as a key point of contact for leadership regarding operational concerns and resource needs. Lead team meetings, facilitate communication between departments, and address any issues impacting performance.
  • Undertake additional duties as assigned, including project management and strategic planning to support departmental goals and organizational objectives.
