JOB SUMMARY:

The Senior Powder Coating Specialist is responsible for advanced powder coating application, surface preparation, and the maintenance of equipment. This role involves applying superior quality powder coatings to metal and other materials, ensuring adherence to the highest standards of finish, durability, and performance. As a senior member of the team, you will manage and troubleshoot equipment, oversee paint application processes, and optimize production workflows while maintaining strict quality and safety standards. This position requires a high level of expertise in powder coating and a commitment to continuous improvement and process excellence.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School diploma or GED; technical certification or training in powder coating is a plus.
  • Minimum of 2+ years in powder coating or related field, with at least 1 year in a leadership role.
  • Advanced knowledge of electrostatic powder coating equipment, especially Wagner and Gema systems.
  • Proven experience in troubleshooting, maintaining, and optimizing spray booths and coating equipment.
  • Skilled in advanced powder coating techniques with attention to quality and detail.
  • Experience working with various metals and materials to apply high-quality finishes.
  • Strong understanding of production processes, safety protocols, and quality control in manufacturing.
  • Proficient in inventory management, process tracking, and basic computer software.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and team leadership skills.
  • Knowledge of ISO or TS certifications is a plus.
  • Able to lift 50 lbs and work in physically demanding conditions for extended periods.
  • Capable of working efficiently under time constraints in a fast-paced environment.
  • Self-motivated, organized, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to stand, bend, and work with hands above head for up to 8 hours/day.
  • Willing to work overtime as required.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee setup, operation, and troubleshooting of spray booths, coating equipment, and paint control centers to ensure efficient production.
  • Manage paint inventory, ensuring accurate tracking and timely replenishment for smooth operations.
  • Apply advanced powder coating techniques, ensuring uniform, high-quality coverage that meets finish specifications.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot electrostatic powder coating equipment (Wagner, Gema) to optimize performance and minimize downtime.
  • Perform routine and specialized maintenance on coating equipment, ensuring safety compliance and production continuity.
  • Monitor coating process to ensure parts meet quality standards for coverage, appearance, and durability.
  • Resolve paint application irregularities, material defects, and surface imperfections through corrective actions.
  • Train and mentor junior staff on powder coating techniques, best practices, and equipment maintenance.
  • Collaborate with production and management teams to improve processes, reduce waste, and optimize efficiency.
  • Ensure adherence to safety protocols, PPE usage, and environmental and regulatory standards.
  • Maintain accurate records for paint inventory, production metrics, equipment maintenance, and quality control.
  • Assist in troubleshooting production line issues and suggest solutions to enhance workflow and productivity.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and foster a high-performance team culture.
