Description:

1.0, 7-8a St Mark’s Hospital Prehabilitation Senior Practitioner Psychologist
Development (preceptorship) post – we welcome applications from newly qualified psychologists, through to those looking for an 8a position
This is an opportunity to support gastroenterology patients to prepare for and recover after surgery at The National Specialist Bowel Hospital sitting within the Psychological Medicines Unit (PMU) at Central Middlesex Hospital. The nationally leading MDT will assist in evaluation to support permanent funding for the role.
This is an exceptionally interesting setting for psychologists working at the interface of mental and physical health. We recognise that it may be an unfamiliar service setting, so really welcome informal enquires from psychologists who would like to understand more about the role before deciding whether to submit an application. This video will explain more about the PMU https://youtu.be/IUqrfHOYH30
As this is a band 7-8a development post, it is suitable for those who are newly qualified, through to those who have existing clinical health psychology experience and are at - or ready to work at - 8a level. Please see additional information sheet.
LNWH has a Psychological Services Network (PSN) to enhance collaboration and CPD opportunities, the PSN can fund training and specialist supervision in EMDR for this post holder.

PMU at St Mark’s Hospital is a highly specialist service in gastrointestinal (GI) medicine providing secondary and tertiary level clinical assessment, and psychotherapeutic services for patients with gastrointestinal disorders admitted for surgery, or suffering acute/life threatening intestinal conditions, as well as a range of more functional disorders of varying complexity.
PMU psychologists have the opportunity to work with specific MDTs to further develop specialist clinical expertise. This post is to establish the psychology component of the surgery pre-assessment and prehabilitation service and also includes a remit to support patients’ recovery post-surgery.
