Working for a company like ours, with technical excellence at our core, offers you access to industry recognised experts in a variety of disciplines and the support and opportunities you are after for your career progression. At Mott MacDonald, we are a collaborative team, excited to solve complex challenges that have a positive impact on the world, and we are always looking for like-minded people to join us.
We deliver a wide variety of engineering and advisory projects in support to the challenges faced by the transportation sector. As part of this, we are committed to ensuring that highways are resilient to the effects of climate change, safeguarding and enhance the environment for future generations and providing our clients with asset management advice. In the UK, we have been appointed by National Highways to mitigate the risk of pollution from highway drainage outfalls across the country as part of their 2030 Water Quality Programme, and have secured new large highway schemes such as the Lower Thames Crossing and the A9 – Tomatin to Moy, adding to our existing commitments, and are reinforcing our excellent technical teams in response to that.

We are seeking a Senior/ Principal Civil Engineer with a background in drainage design and asset management to strengthen our technical teams in the UK or Spain. This a fantastic professional opportunity for driven individuals to take the lead on a range of projects in the UK and worldwide. As part of our team, you will be able to make a difference by:

  • Leading the design of sustainable highway drainage infrastructure to increase climate change resilience,
  • Contributing to innovative grey and blue-green solutions to mitigate pollution risk from highway drainage systems,
  • Embracing and enhancing digital drainage design delivery solutions, and
  • Understanding the drainage asset management needs of our clients to prioritise the use of maintenance budgets.

In this role, you will:

  • Be responsible for the delivery of project(s), coordinating project team(s) to ensure excellent technical delivery within budget and programme.
  • Produce and review engineering calculations, specifications, drawings and reports, proactively managing design risk to deliver constructable solutions.
  • Represent the company in meetings, building strong relationships with our clients that will enhance our reputation and help secure further work.
  • Deliver projects in close partnership with clients and contractors.
  • Contribute to technical excellence and commercial success through forecasting and risk management, and the production of bids and proposals.
  • Work to Mott MacDonald’s global standards and review Health, Safety and Welfare alongside environmental impact

Mott MacDonald offers a highly innovative and collaborative environment within which to further develop your career. We can offer career opportunities in technical, management or client-facing directions. You will have control of your own career path and great prospects progression as the business continues to grow.
