Key Responsibilities
Media Relationship and Storytelling Successfully develops and executes a strategy for expanding, cultivating, and advancing effective working relationships with local, regional and national media outlets, media leaders, staff, reporters and journalists. Guides and influences compelling storytelling and coverage of the company and advances the strategic communications objectives in collaboration with the communications team.
Content Writes, edits or produces, or oversees the writing, editing and production of key corporate communications outputs including talking points, briefing memos, scripts, speeches press releases, media statements, quotations, media briefings, media trainings, presentations, audio or video productions, and other communications tools. Prepares and executes media trainings for company speakers and representatives. Advises and develops content aligned to core messaging in collaboration with other functions across the company. Crafts and helps others achieve storytelling and reportage at highest quality levels with precision, accuracy and interest to audiences.
Media Relations Cultivates, develops and cares for company working relationships with media/press. Develops and maintains media rosters, reporter relationships, plans for strengthening collaborative relationships with media, and executes to measurable outcomes including coverage monitoring and data, coverage sentiment analysis, and other reporting metrics.
Consultation Serves as a companywide communications expert linking narratives and overseeing a consistent proactive approach. Works broadly and collaboratively across the entire Corporate Communications team and with other external-facing departments, facilitating engagements with media. Anticipates overall enterprise communication needs and provides strategic communication solutions.
Vendor Management May select or engage vendors as needed. Establishes quality metrics. Monitors work product quality of freelancers, agencies and other outside resources. Ensures alignment to overall brand concept.
Other Duties Oversees relevant department metrics. Designs, monitors and tracks metrics and reports back to clients. May lead cross-functional projects. May serve as a mentor to other team members and assign and direct work. Oversees high level or sensitive projects.
Education/Experience/Certifications
Education Requires a bachelor’s degree in journalism, writing or other related field or equivalent experience. Master’s in public administration, business administration or communications field preferred.
Experience Typically 10 or more years of experience in journalism, public relations, media relations, or corporate strategic communications, including internal and external communications. Accomplished in expository writing, complex storytelling, and crafting compelling narratives in multiple media, genres, and formats.

Compensation Range:
$116,410.00 - $216,190.00
Actual total compensation, including a performance based incentive bonus, is commensurate with experience, skills, qualifications, education, training, and internal equity. While we anticipate the selected candidate for this position will fall towards the middle or entry point of the compensation range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis.
