Profile Summary:
Provide leadership to the Server team as a leading expert who is valued by peers in a scientific/technology field. Implement security and compliance standard methodologies through infrastructure as code, automation, REST APIs, test driven development, and CI/CD. Applies practical skills of platform/cloud to complete tasks. Masters knowledge and skills of technological methods, and serves as a valuable resource to peers. Manages major complex projects of strategic importance, involving cross-functional teams. Advance engineering projects, programs, and processes.
Position Description:
Responsible for engineering of infrastructure services and installing, configuring, and integrating server, storage, cloud, and other enterprise data center technologies.
Works to achieve operational, functional, business and/or major service delivery targets with positive, measurable impact on Server Platform/Cloud Engineering results.
A combination of business process and technology expertise is required.
Conducts advanced evaluation of complex computer topologies to determine feasibility of use to meet the organization’s security and scalability needs.
Conducts functional testing and provides recommendations based on results.
Applies advanced knowledge of the entire software life cycle to plan, design, test, and deploy applications.
Generates technical reports, technical memoranda, and other documents for internal and external distribution.
Presents findings and provides updates on project status to team and senior management.
Coaches, trains and guides junior colleagues through consultation and mentoring in techniques, processes and responsibilities, and provides functional supervision.
Adheres to all applicable J&J policies and standards, including technical, quality, and information security.
Integrates Johnson & Johnson’s Credo and Leadership Imperatives into team goals and decision making.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead software design, service architecture, and software development/solution engineering.
  • Serve as full-stack (user front-end, middle tier, or back-end) engineer on a variety of development projects (agile or waterfall) using our standard toolsets and services in a test/behavior development approach.
  • Lead junior engineers.
  • Lead design and code reviews within the service.
  • Participate in cross-service reviews with peers.
  • Investigate emerging technologies, new engineering techniques, and leverage opportunities that drive continuous improvement of the service, its use in solutions, and how the service interoperates with other services.
  • Review and revise documentation on solutions, technical requirements, components, and APIs.
  • Build and maintain regulatory documentation such as SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures), WIs (Work Instructions), STDs (Standards), GDLs (Guidelines), etc.
  • Interact with multi-functional teams, including Enterprise Architecture, to ensure complete delivery of solutions.
  • Collaborate and Integrate with engineering services and platforms.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with vendors and strategic external partners.
  • Build opportunities for efficiencies through innovative strategic decisions balancing cost and quality.
  • Deliver high quality work outcomes and customer service in a high-pressure, fast paced setting to meet company needs.

QUALIFICATIONS

Qualifications

Education:

  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.

Experience and Skills:

Required:

  • 8+ years of hands-on Linux engineering experience required.
  • 6+ years of Red Hat Enterprise Linux experience (or any of its downstream derivatives- e.g. Centos, Oracle Linux, Rocky Linux, Alma Linux and Amazon Linux).
  • Experience within regulated environments (GxP or SOX).
  • Experience working in On-premise Cloud and public virtual private Clouds.
  • Experience with Linux Clustering via HPE ServiceGuard and/or Red Hat Pacemaker.
  • Outstanding employee relations skills.
  • Skill to work closely and multi-functionally with a team.
  • Experience with an outcomes-focused Product (vs Project Management) delivery mentality and with Agile software development approaches.
  • Consistent record of innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to work in fast paced environment and prioritize in parallel.
  • Customer service orientation, understanding of business values, and a bias for action.
  • Adept at working with virtual, and diverse global teams of varied backgrounds and cultural experiences.

  • Proficient at Linux Operating System Shell scripting.
