Here’s what we’re looking for:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering or other relevant discipline
  • Evidence of significant experience in hydraulic and modelling software (Flood Modeller and/ or TUFLOW).
  • Demonstrable knowledge of Environment Agency requirements in preparing flood models for flood risk assessments.
  • Understanding of hydrological assessments using FEH and REFH2.
  • Strong GIS skills using QGIS, ArcGIS and / or MapInfo.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate: Work closely with our clients and internal specialists across disciplines to ensure we successfully deliver a wide range of fluvial, coastal, surface water or drainage flood risk management projects.
  • Expert: Using packages such as Flood Modeller, TUFLOW, HEC-RAS and InfoWorks ICM; you will develop & check hydraulic models to assist the design of flood alleviation schemes, flood risk assessments and Environment Agency flood maps.
  • Deliver: Review and produce high-quality technical reports, documenting model build and uncertainties in the model build process. Conceptualise and scope modelling approaches, with consideration of the risks and opportunities in each.
  • Lead: Mentor junior staff within the team to support their professional development. Lead and input into tenders ranging from innovative one-off projects to multimillion pound framework contracts.
  • Quality: Keep up to date with developments in legislation and guidelines that may affect our services. Use AECOM’s project management systems to deliver high-quality outputs to our clients in line with the agreed programme and budget
