Responsibilities:

ABOUT THE ROLE:

Reporting to the Chief Privacy Officer, the Senior Privacy Analyst will work closely with eHealth Saskatchewan programs and partners to provide advice and support on a range of health information privacy, patient safety, and access to information issues that support the delivery of key eHealth programs and systems. This position will aid in the development of the privacy, access, and patient safety frameworks, assessments, and policies for eHealth Saskatchewan and support the development, implementation, and operation of the privacy, access, and patient safety models for the EHR, MySaskHealthRecord, and other eHealth programs.
In this position, you will manage privacy, access, and patient safety deliverables and deadlines in support of eHealth Saskatchewan programs and provide ongoing consultation for programs as well as corporate and operational activities. You will have access to crucial information and play a significant role in safeguarding the personal health information of Saskatchewan residents.

TYPICAL DAILY DUTIES:

  • Provide advice and legislative interpretation for access to information requests, complaints or inquiries, appeals and privacy issues under The Health Information Protection Act (HIPA) and The Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIP).
  • Conduct privacy impact assessments (PIAs) and provide subject matter expertise on policies and processes and privacy requirements as it relates to HIPA and FOIP.
  • Lead and manage privacy breach and critical incident investigations and identify, develop, and monitor risk mitigation plans.
  • Create reports and submissions for the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner in response to investigations and reviews.
  • Develop and delivery privacy, access, and patient safety education and training.
  • Providing expertise and advice on privacy, access, and patient safety issues.
    What are we looking for?

The knowledge and skills required for this position would be attained through the completion of a degree in health information, social science or public administration. Consideration will be given to those who have completed a Health Information Management diploma program. A combination of education and experience may be considered. In addition to educational requirements, you will have 5 years of experience working as a Privacy Analyst or in a similar role. Completion of the IAPP certificate through the University of Alberta would be considered an asset. Additional skills include:

  • Experience responding to access to information requests made under FOIP;
  • Experience leading the completion of privacy impact assessments;
  • Experience leading and conducting privacy breach investigations; and
  • Experience with privacy policy development and implementation.
