THE OPPORTUNITY:

Uphold is seeking a Senior Privacy Analyst to join the Information Governance, Privacy, and Security team.
This role is a key opportunity to enhance our privacy and data protection program, maintaining compliance with evolving global privacy requirements. Responsibilities include maturing Uphold’s privacy program, managing daily operations, developing documentation, and overseeing processes like Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs), Subject Access Requests (SARs), data mapping, and control monitoring.
You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess and prioritize risk remediation, reporting on the company’s overall privacy risk posture. This role involves working closely with Legal, Information Security, Engineering, Technology, Product, Data Insights, and Operations teams.
We are seeking an experienced professional in operational, privacy, and compliance matters to help expand our industry-leading privacy program. The position reports to the SVP, GRC, Security & Privacy.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Information Technology or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in Privacy, Information Security, Compliance, or Technical Program Management.
  • Proficiency in data protection laws like GDPR, GLBA, PIPEDA, BIPA, CCPA/CPRA.
  • Experience conducting privacy assessments and implementing technical data protection standards (e.g. ISO 27701, ISO 27018).
  • Attention to detail regarding controls, metrics, accountability, and operational excellence.
  • Familiarity with the Fintech industry and its data processing activities.
  • Excellent communication, influencing, and simplification skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Positive attitude, teamwork, adaptability, resourcefulness, and ability to work independently.
  • Preferred certifications: CIPP/E, CIPM, CIPT.
  • Fluent written and oral English skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and enhance Uphold’s data processing activities, privacy strategy, and implementation of privacy policies, procedures, and controls.
  • Define and improve testing procedures for privacy controls, including Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs).
  • Collaborate with business and technology teams to ensure data protection and privacy standards compliance.
  • Drive various program responsibilities or initiatives related to privacy.
  • Promote a privacy mindset across engineering teams and the organization through education and guidance.
  • Identify areas for improvement in local practices for managing data privacy.
  • Manage data subject access requests (DSAR).
