Responsibilities:

  • Lead hands-on process development to enhance materials manufacturing processes.
  • Apply first principles thinking to systematically design experiments and analyze the root causes of process inefficiencies.
  • Utilize data analysis software such as JMP or Python to process and interpret large experimental datasets, enabling data-informed decision making.
  • Effectively communicate complex concepts through verbal presentations and written reports to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with teams to implement process improvements and ensure alignment with project objectives.
  • Manage technical projects from conception to completion within the team, delivering results to internal customers.
  • Analyze chemical synthesis processes to identify key physical phenomena and develop process and reactor improvements based on this understanding.
  • Document and communicate findings to a broad set of partners, including identifying safety hazards and collaborating on implementing improvements through formal tech transfer.
  • Prepare for design reviews in compliance with regulatory and quality system requirements.
  • Verify designs and functional requirements through engineering analyses and testing.
  • Balance product requirements and scalability by understanding product needs and commercial benchmarks while mitigating process scale-up risks to meet project timing and cost objectives.
  • Develop characterization and test methods addressing both scientific understanding and robust manufacturability needs.
  • Advise operations and engineering teams as the onsite technical expert, including proactive identification and implementation of safety improvements.
