Description:
Are you looking for a process engineering job that’s as good for your career as it is for the planet?
Working as a Process Development Engineer at Promethean Particles, you’re going to help turn research into reality - in record time. You will have direct involvement in all stages of process development as part of a team that is driven by innovation, and which believes the energy transition can be accelerated by the right people harnessing their ingenuity and passion.
Process Development is the key link between our R&D and manufacturing teams as we help the world decarbonise by unleashing the potential of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs). New materials and methods of manufacture need to be formally assessed and scaled before any potential can be realised as a commercial manufacturing process.
This role will excite you if you are constantly seeking new chemical manufacturing knowledge and embrace the pioneering spirit of doing things that at a scale that has never been done before. Innovation is your lifeblood, whether it is developing new processes, or reimagining tried and tested techniques, but adapted for a new class of materials. If you’ve ever been frustrated by how slow process development can be, or if you’ve ever wanted to take responsibility for the whole process lifecycle rather than just part of it, this is the job for you.
You need to have a keen interest in the application of innovative technologies, across a broad range of manufacturing unit operations. The role involves working alongside Promethean’s process chemists on the scale-up of the company’s current manufacturing processes; including the operation and continuous improvement of the site’s existing pilot-scale facilities, and the development and implementation of future technologies and systems.
REQUIREMENTS
We’re looking for applications from people with the following:-
- Already fully eligible to work in the UK.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in chemical engineering from a top university.
- Several years post-grad industrial experience in an engineering or pilot scale production environment.
- Knowledge of standard chemical manufacturing tools, techniques, and systems.
- Ability to quickly understand new methods and techniques, deal with uncertainty, and manage the associated risk.
Responsibilities:
- Assess new and existing manufacturing processes and workflows, with a focus on pilot-scale production and processing
- Interface between R&D and manufacturing teams to implement effective practices for the scale-up of MOF production and associated processing
- Contribute to the safe installation and operation of new CAPEX equipment
- Undertake design and P&ID work at the pilot-scale
- Provide EHS leadership for the scale up process, including the design and implementation of best working practices (e.g. flammable solvent handling, powder handling and processing etc.)
- Lead the interaction with external suppliers and OEM’s to evaluate and identify suitable technologies for internal trials and future implementation
- Identify and implement continuous improvement processes to optimise productivity
- ‘Hands-on’ mechanical work, including work with high-pressure and/or temperature systems (training to be provided
