About The Role
We are seeking a skilled Senior Process Engineer to join our team at the Narngulu Mineral Separation Plant based in Geraldton.
The Narngulu Mineral Separation Plant is one of the largest mineral processing facilities globally. It is capable of accepting heavy mineral concentrate (HMC) feedstocks from various production sources, currently treating several of our other operations materials.
Reporting to the Processing Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring that our metallurgical processes are operated efficiently, maximising production rates and recovery, maintaining asset integrity, and minimising input costs.
You will be well-versed in all technical aspects of the department’s operations, from information management to plant processes, and provide leadership to a team of Process Engineers.
Key elements of the role include:
- Lead the Process Engineers in the Narngulu Technical Services Team with performance-based management and competence development
- Achieve forecast production by setting operating parameters and ensuring the plant is operated within operating windows
- Ensure product quality matches customer requirements and variances are addressed and/or escalated to marketing
- Ensure plant integrity (process safety) is maintained by understanding plant operating limits and the consequences of exceeding them
- Achieve timely completion of projects by taking a lead role in design and commissioning activities and developing close relationships with project teams
- Provide strong and clear leadership to all site departments and supporting functions
- Further develop management skills by assisting the Processing Manager in the day to day running of the operation and taking on an acting role when required
- Ensure operational consistency by developing standard work procedures, SOPs, decision trees, troubleshooting guides, and other documentation required by the operations and technical services teams
- Provide support to Processing Manager by assisting with preparation of short, medium and long term plans
- Conduct monthly production reconciliation modeling and prepare weekly and monthly production performance reports
- Ensure routine plant testing and surveys are conducted to ensure optimum process configuration and equipment performance
About You
To be successful for this role, you will have:
- Degree in Chemical Engineering, Metallurgy or similar
- Demonstrated experience in mineral sand, extractive metallurgy or similar operation and/or design
- High attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Involvement in design, execution and commissioning of process improvement projects
