Procurement Department
The Procurement team is responsible for securing the equipment Vantage’s data centers require to function. The team leads these efforts from conception through commissioning, working with Sales, Operations, New Site Development, and Engineering along the way. Procurement also works closely with vendor partners to come up with a vertically integrated design, and we manage these partners to deliver the projects on schedule and budget. Vantage is unique in that our technical staff is given the responsibility and authority to directly drive the process. Our internal team can align long-term operational sustainability with value engineering and cost metrics to deliver products aligned with corporate goals. This approach empowers each member of the team to drive high- impact decisions and even more impactful results.
Position Description
In a Senior Procurement Analyst, Vantage is looking for a highly motivated, self-starter to be an integral part of a team that manages Owner Furnished Contractor Installed Equipment (OFCI) and corresponding supply chains. In this role, you will have strategic and project operational procurement tasks.
You will deal with most of the time with strategic tasks such as market intelligence for OFCI, shaping procurement strategy along with the EMEA OFCI leadership, play a key role in supporting/managing regional RFPs, and manage savings/value engineering for the regions.
The other part of this job, you will project manage every aspect of the equipment procurement and delivery process from start to finish. Daily tasks include writing project RFP’s, negotiating deals and contracts with vendors, maintain relationship with vendors, delivery tracking, building maintaining complex project budgets and support Construction team on their request with OFCI.
Regular collaboration and coordination will be required with our external supply chain partners and numerous internal teams such as Construction Cost & Finance, Accounting, Construction, Operations, and Legal. Occasional travel to Vantage Data Center sites may also be required.
This position will be shared in two workstreams shown in the below responsibility, the position can evolve to a role fully focused on strategy.
Responsibilities

Strategy:

  • Market intelligence, supplier qualification and performance management
  • Regional RFP management
  • Coordination Design Input/Workshops to Procurement
  • Work on Value Engineering and vertical integrations to create savings
  • Support and management the OFCI Strategy with the Senior Procurement Manager

Project procurement:

  • Autonomously drive equipment submittals from cradle to grave.
  • Manage electrical single line diagrams, mechanical riser diagrams, and product specifications for multiple projects.
  • Competitively bid and procure numerous types of mechanical and electrical equipment including but not limited to—Medium Voltage Switchgear, Medium Voltage Transformers, Chillers, Computer Room Air Handlers, CRACS, Switchgear, CDP’s, UPS’s, Generators, and other electrical distribution gear
  • Serve as a liaison between our supply chain partners and internal stakeholders to communicate changes in product lead-times and costs.
  • Support engineering and sales to solve client requests and design changes.
  • Analyze project schedules for on-site equipment delivery dates.
  • Support Finance / Accounting with invoicing issues, cash flow forecasts, and budget reconciliation
  • Drive project-level tasks and milestones assigned by the project management team
  • Schedule and coordinate onsite start-up and commissioning support services from vendors
  • Maintain and develop supplier relationships

Duties

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure clarity of the specifications and operational requirements
  • Work with the Finance to ensure all purchases have appropriately been costed to a project
  • Coordinate the approval and release of the necessary equipment per construction schedule
  • Negotiate best-landed price with primary and secondary vendors, as applicable
  • Support the negotiation of complex requests for equipment and services from suppliers and subcontractors
  • Manage and support equipment inventory planning efforts and forecasting
  • Perform market intelligence

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Supply Chain Management, is required
  • 5, or more, years of experience in a supply chain, procurement, or construction is required
  • Data Center or industrial equipment experience is strongly preferred
  • Technical aptitude of mechanical and electrical systems
  • Experience with construction and supplier contracts
  • Knowledge of construction management processes
  • Aptitude to learn quickly and drive things to closure autonomously is required
  • Strong agility profile
  • Strong business acumen and commercial background is required
  • Excellent knowledge of sourcing and procurement techniques is required
  • Superb communication skills and the ability to comfortably present technical data to executive level leadership
