About You
The Senior Procurement Analyst works closely with the Procurement Operations and Systems Manager and the wider Procurement teams to establish and maintain a practice of continuous improvement in the management of core categories of expenditure through the provision of data driven category insights, supply market analysis, opportunity assessments and innovative market engagements to drive management action.
Working with experienced Category Managers/Vendor Manager/Sourcing Managers, you will develop models and reports, perform complex analyses, and work on different sourcing and savings projects based on these insights to ensure that the insights and opportunities you derive are converted into realised commercial and functional benefits for the university in a sustainable manner.

To be successful in this position, you’ll have as a minimum:

  • A minimum of 5 years of strong, demonstrated procurement analytics experience in a large and complex environment and report development tools such as PowerBI and Tableau.
  • Strong IT systems skills that can be effectively applied to the RMIT Procurement environment to develop reports and dashboard.
  • Demonstrated strong conceptual and analytical skills and an ability to think laterally to identify practical and workable solutions.
  • Advanced report writing skills and ability to develop reports based on business requirements and create set of standard reports with instructions for users.
  • Strong technical and commercial understanding of procurement processes and tools.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to influence and build internal and external relationships.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with detail, analyse data in an organised and objective manner and determine actions based on data analytics and insights gathered.
  • Demonstrated ability to derive insights and develop opportunity assessments from complex data sources.
  • Ability to work in a team environment with workload allocation and rotation as required balancing demand for services.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with multiple stakeholder groups and drive positive stakeholder experience while ensuring compliance with processes and policies.
  • Problem-solver, able to identify opportunities and contribute to building solutions

About the Portfolio
Procurement is a small but focused group reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer. The role of Procurement is to review sourcing and procurement options across the university based on an expenditure on goods and services of ~$500M.

Key issues addressed are:

  • Identifying cost improvement initiatives across the university spend
  • Rationalising supplier base
  • Negotiating and establishing major RMIT group contracts based on combined purchasing power
  • Enabling the procurement process and policies through both systems and controls
  • Using and leveraging group contracts to provide savings
