SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

To be considered for this role we will require a proven track record in leading procurement projects, building strong relationships across the business and an advantage if you have a qualification in CIPS however practical procurement experience is preferred.

  • Proven experience managing the entire procurement lifecycle for large and complex projects, including planning, sourcing, negotiation, contract management, and supplier performance evaluation.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a large, complex organization, collaborating with multiple internal departments to achieve procurement objectives.
  • Experience in dairy, manufacturing or FMCG preferred
  • Contract drafting and negotiation experience is a key part of this role
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the capacity to influence and lead cross-functional teams.
  • Experience in managing procurement budgets and ensuring compliance with organizational policies and regulations.
  • Proven track record of driving cost reduction and achieving significant savings through strategic sourcing, effective negotiation, and innovative procurement strategies, while maintaining high-quality standards and supplier performance.
  • Proven ability to work under pressure and regularly meet deadlines in a multi-tasking environment

Responsibilities:

THE ROLE

We are on the lookout for a Senior Procurement Specialist to work across various indirect categories, including chemical and consumable goods, corporate services, and capital expenditures for our manufacturing plants. In this role, you’ll play a key part in driving the success and continued innovation of the procurement team. You will provide effective advice, services, mentoring and support to key stakeholders across the business to ensure a strategic approach.
This role will play a vital part in supporting the Category Manager in executing best practice, procurement framework, procedures and systems to ensure organisational efficacy and to leverage our position and continued development on our strategic plan.
You will be analytical-minded and outcome-focused and can flex communication styles and think outside the box. If you have an ability to interpret business and customer needs combined with your ability to influence key decision-makers to ensure the success of this role.

The main responsibilities of this role include..

  • Consulting with key stakeholders as to their procurement and purchasing requirements. Develop and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders to foster and encourage collaboration.
  • Independently manage high-value, complex procurement projects, including overseeing all phases from planning and execution to evaluation and finalization.
  • Develop and implement cost-saving strategies through contract negotiation, market analysis, and process optimization to achieve significant reductions while upholding quality and supplier performance.
  • Drive a portfolio of procurement, sourcing and contract management activities in close partnership with the relevant key stakeholders
  • Identify strategic issues for procurement and contract management, and their relationship to other parts of the business
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior team members, helping to develop their skills and support their growth within the procurement function.
  • Development of recommended supplier agreements and negotiation strategies prior to entering into negotiations on behalf of Synlait
