Responsibilities:

As part of a Digital squad, the Senior Product Designer is responsible for conceptualising and creating innovative designs for products that meet the needs of users whilst aligning with business goals. They collaborate closely as part of a cross-functional team including product managers, researchers and producers to ensure seamless integration of design throughout the product development process.
The role has the responsibility of applying human-centred design (HCD) thinking, methodology and tools, to work with various teams across the AU business. You will deliver on Australian’s Unity strategic ambition of improving our customer experience by supporting customer research and generating insights, customer journey mapping and prototyping concepts and designs, and optimising processes and experiences.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Manage, lead and grow the Product design capability
  • Working with the Head of Digital Experience and Delivery, create a design community of practice and associated ceremonies including peer reviews, best practice and upskilling
  • Perform desktop research such as landscape and literature reviews, competitive analysis, trend monitoring and go to market analytics, to complement UX Research.
  • Create and facilitate research/customer testing/workshops, and translate insights into journey maps, problems to solve and solid design solutions backed by strong rationale for the design decisions
  • Define key benchmark metrics for evaluating usability and overall user experience using industry benchmarking tools (SUS / SUPR-Q).
  • Champion use of the Design system and its maintenance to continue to evolve the practice
  • Provide design thought leadership for the business, identifying and defining growth opportunities
