Senior Product Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Product Engineer to join our team. This person will work closely on our laser-driven radiation sources (LDRS) initiatives. With the laser-driven radiation sources we have developed, we are tackling unsolved social and technical challenges such as the disposal of radioactive waste, the transition to renewable energy infrastructure or the fight against the unauthorized import of weapons.

• Lead the development of the LDRS system from a scientific instrument towards an industrial product that can be commercially operated.
• Prepare and coordinate the scaling up of a production system to move from a single prototype to volume manufacturing of real products.
• Make strategic plans and have a long-term vision for multiple years.
• Be a product owner. Ensure stable and reliable long-term system operation and ensure the customer requirements are met.
• Adapt to the changing environment of a startup and pre-product market fit.
• Hire an excellent team to support your goals.
• Lead other engineers to work on the relevant work packages but also do hands-on work on the design and construction yourself.
• Increase system usability as well as its scalability
• Reduce costs by reducing system complexity and establish procedures to scale up the production process.
• Establish supply chains and work with stakeholders and other partners to ensure joint success.
• Work with the team to improve the individual system components to reach industry standards.
• Perform work plan scheduling, budgeting and requirements management.
• Work with sales and marketing to analyze market trends and customer needs to constantly improve the products.
• Oversee and coordinate production, including quality assurance and compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
• Work consists of around 30% communication with stakeholders, 50% design work and execution as well as 20% strategic planning.
• This role can be hybrid in terms of remote and in-office work from our office in Darmstadt, Germany.
