About this opportunity:
Cenovus Atlantic Region is seeking a Senior Production Engineer for the St. John’s, NL office. As a Senior Production Engineer, you will provide production engineering expertise to the Subsurface Engineering team responsible for the management of existing subsea wells and the development of the West White Rose field. The successful candidate will also provide production engineering technical evaluation of future subsea development concepts.
What you’ll do:

Well Design & Execution

  • Integrate with multidisciplinary design team to optimize well drilling trajectories and completions requirements; assess completion equipment sizing and evaluate artificial lift options
  • Technical support during well construction phase, and incorporate findings into depletion plan and well architecture
  • Incorporate Well Designs and Reservoir Data into Wellbore simulation and Nodal Analysis Models
  • Organize and manage production studies
  • Prepare and update regulatory applications and work with the Canada-Newfoundland and Labrador Offshore Petroleum Board (C-NLOPB)

Well and Reservoir Surveillance

  • Provide well management and surveillance: optimizing production, water & gas injection, and artificial lift.
  • Evaluate production optimization opportunities
  • Support well testing, measurement, and allocation of production data for monthly reporting

Well Integrity Management

  • Support technical well envelope design and barrier management.
  • Support flow assurance modeling and risk mitigation for wells
  • Well integrity anomaly management and risk characterization.

Facilities Interface

  • Complete nodal analysis for existing and future development wells
  • Provide subsurface guidance for measurement and fluid allocation systems
  • Support well start-up and operational guidelines
  • Support engineering evaluations of brownfield upgrades

Subsea Development Concept Evaluation

  • Perform technical evaluations of various subsea development concepts.
  • Implement flow assurance studies to identify potential concerns.
  • Develop technical solutions to solve development concept risks

Who you are:

Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum qualifications:

  • Legally authorized to work in Canada
  • BSc in Engineering
  • 8-12 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, preference for production engineering experience
  • Ability to adapt to a variable working environment with changing tasks, responsibilities, and people
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to identify key issues based on relevant data and provide appropriate solutions/recommendations
  • Capable of acting independently, when required, and with initiative to achieve goals beyond what is required
  • A member in good standing or eligible for registration with Professional Engineers and Geoscientist Newfoundland & Laboratory (PEGNL)
