Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) is seeking a Senior Production Engineering Manager located in El Segundo, CA.
This leader must have strong experience in development programs and effectively building solid cross-functional relationships to define and align priorities to drive outcomes for functional execution. In addition, this leader must have demonstrated performance leading through complexity and dynamic changes, a proven ability to simplify objectives, to be a creative strategic problem solver, and proficiency in concise Boeing and government customer executive communication including metrics and recovery plans. Other skills the leader must possess expertise in include mediating conflicts, balancing conflicting priorities, and fostering cooperation to address intricate technical and program-related challenges.
This role will manage Manufacturing Engineers supporting assembly, integration, and test for various satellite platforms/programs. Our team in El Segundo is responsible for all aspects of readiness to ensure performance to plan. This includes the creation of integration build flows, daily task identification, and technical direction as needed. Additionally, this leader will manage first line leaders in various disciplines within Production Engineering, such as Industrial Engineering, Technical Planning, etc.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.
  • 5+ years of experience in engineering or leadership experience in a space related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in a role that required project management skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):

  • 5+ years of experience in Earned Value Management.
  • 5+ years of experience with design and manufacturing engineering, manufacturing planning, and assembly integration and test, including industrial engineering concepts.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage employees and first-level managers performing engineering and technical activities in the area of Production Engineering.
  • Develop and execute integrated departmental plans, policies and procedures and provide input on departmental business and technical strategies, goals, and objectives.
  • Acquire resources for department activities, provide technical management of suppliers, and lead process improvements.
  • Develop and maintain relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners, and direct reports.
  • Provide oversight and approval of technical approaches, products, and processes.
  • Manage, develop, and motivate employees and first-level managers.
  • Manage employees performing engineering and technical activities in the area of Assembly Integration & Test (AI&T) and general Manufacturing Engineering.
  • Accountable and responsible for executing Production Engineering priorities and strategies.
