About us
The Faculty of Natural, Mathematical & Engineering Sciences (NMES) comprises the Departments of Chemistry, Informatics, Mathematics, Physics and Engineering and is looking to recruit a full time Senior Programme Officer in our Engineering department.
Recently re-founded, the Department of Engineering is rapidly expanding into a world-class research and teaching department. Research currently focuses on robotics, telecommunications and biomedical engineering, but we are looking to establish new research themes.
The Department is supported by an experienced and passionate professional services team, working in partnership with academic colleagues, as well as faculty and central directorates (e.g. admissions, students and education, human resources, research, management accounting services, estates and facilities), to provide a high-quality administrative support service and student and staff experience.
About the role
The Department of Engineering has an exciting opportunity for someone interested in pursuing a career or taking their next step in Higher Education administration. We are looking to recruit a Senior Programme Officer to support the running of our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.
The Senior Programme Officer provides essential support to students and academics. Working in a fast-paced environment, the role includes taking responsibility to resolve complex queries and issues, supporting activities such as timetabling and the production of handbooks, using databases and Microsoft Excel to maintain accurate student data on progress and achievement, and delivering a high-quality service across the student lifecycle. Working with colleagues to plan and coordinate a varied set of activities, you will have opportunities to further develop your knowledge of regulations and process and be part of professional networks promoting best practice. As part of the departmental team, you will supervise the work across a team of Programme Officers, and as part of the King’s community, you’ll work alongside inspiring academic staff, administrators and students.
Celebrating diversity and supporting staff is important to us and we offer a range of provision including flexible working, caring support (including a Parenting and Carers Fund and the Carer’s Career Development Fund), training, and a variety of diversity and inclusion networks. Staff can apply for flexible working to help them balance the demands of their professional and personal commitments and we offer comprehensive leave policies for parental, adoption, surrogacy, dependant, and shared leave.
The Faculty of Natural, Mathematical & Engineering Sciences (NMES) comprises Chemistry, Engineering, Informatics, Mathematics, and Physics – all departments are highly rated in research activities and have a wide-ranging portfolio of education programmes. The university is making investment in NMES and both student and staff numbers are growing. Our staff come from over 45 countries and 56% of our students are from outside the UK. KCL staff are principally located on the Strand Campus in the heart of central London, further details available at https://www.kcl.ac.uk/nmes and https://www.kcl.ac.uk/engineering
This is a full-time post (35 Hours per week), and you will be offered an indefinite contract. This is a hybrid role, you will spend some of your working week on campus and the rest working remotely.
