JOB SUMMARY:

We are currently seeking a Senior Programmer/Analyst to join our esteemed team based out of our Surrey Terminal. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in designing, developing, and maintaining software applications and systems. This entails close collaboration with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and devise innovative solutions. The ideal candidate will possess a keen eye for detail, excellent communication skills, and a steadfast commitment to supporting our mission of delivering freight in a safe and timely manner.

ABOUT US:

Van-Kam Freightways Ltd (Van Kam) is one of the largest regional carriers in Western Canada specializing in less-than-truckload (LTL) transportation. With 8 terminal locations across British Columbia, we fulfill shipments to communities within 1-3 days throughout BC and Alberta. Between our own resources and our partner network, our coverage extends beyond Western Canada into the U.S. and Eastern Canada.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Five years of professional experience as a Programmer/Developer in conjunction with business analyst experience.
  • Java Script, EDI, Mobile applications (Apple / Android), Web Application Development (html, CSS, React, VUE etc).
  • Degree/Diploma in Computer Science from a reputable and accredited academic institution.
  • Additional Developer and Database certifications.
  • Long-term desire to lead and develop a team of talented professionals.
  • Ability and passion to learn business processes in order to bring efficiencies, ideas and insights to day-to-day operations and long-term strategic planning.

Training and Experience

  • Experience in evaluating, planning, implementing, and supporting large-scale IT programs.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively interact with team members and stakeholders.
  • Team player with desire to grow role, grow management experience and grow responsibilities over time.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • AS/400 using RPG programming language and profound development is preferred, or candidates MUST be willing to learn.
  • Experience in business requirements gathering, documentation, change management, and training.
  • Experience with transportation management systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Development of AS/400 and Profound UI new programs and enhancement modifications of existing programs.
  • Support troubleshooting and solution development of existing AS/400 and Profound UI programs as required.
  • Designing/Programming fully integrated user interfaces.
  • Create clear and comprehensive documentation and instruction manuals to facilitate seamless user interaction.
  • Maintaining, troubleshooting, and monitoring physical servers to ensure they operate efficiently and securely.
  • Uphold high personal coding and development workmanship standards.
  • Partner with key stakeholders to enhance the organization’s long-term technology roadmap.
