AECOM is in need of a Senior Project Engineer to work with our client TTC on some of their high-profile public Transit projects.
The job incumbent will be offered a regular, full-time position with AECOM and work on secondment to TTC. Candidate will report for work at the TTC office a few times a week for the length of the secondment. After the secondment is compete, the employee will return to AECOM to be re-assigned to another project. The home office for the employee at that time can be either the AECOM Markham or Mississauga office (with work from home options available also.)

Major Responsibilities:

  • Deliver quality construction projects safely on time, on budget, from inception through scope development, design, procurement, construction, handover, and closeout;
  • Coordinating with multiple stakeholders TTC stakeholder operations, engineering and systems departments to support and direct planning and design teams (consultant or in-house) through the audit, assessment and analysis to planning, concept design, costing, risk management of project and program deliverables, including appropriate constraints and milestones to facilitate Operations, customer service, and third party requirements;
  • Monitoring technical performance and ensuring all engineering milestones are met;
  • Coordinating work by third parties and value engineering activities;
  • Obtaining all the required sign-off and approvals both internally and from external agencies;
  • Providing project management support including cost, schedule and technical aspects and the coordination of all scope and project changes;\
  • Preparing various status reports for the Project Manager, and performing related administrative duties as assigned to meet project requirements and commitments;
  • Responsible for treating passengers and/or employees with respect and dignity and ensuring the needs of passengers or employees with disabilities are accommodated and/or addressed (within your area of responsibility).

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

In order to be considered for this position, candidates must possess no less than:

  • A University Degree in Civil, Mechanical or Electrical engineering or in Architecture from an accredited University + six (6) years of experience in the areas of projects/construction and engineering management of heavy construction and/or large, multi-disciplined projects;
  • Registration as a licensed Professional Engineer (PEO) or Architect (OAA) in the Province of Ontario is required;

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

Knowledge of:

  • Construction techniques and practices, contract administration, and knowledge of the Construction Lien Act, as related to heavy construction, new building, subway and other transit work;
  • Ontario Health & Safety Act.
  • Current engineering principles and practices
  • Codes and standards pertaining to engineering/architecture and construction
  • Computer aided planning and scheduling
  • Preparation and management of project budget
  • Project management principles and practices, including conceptual planning and all phases of design;
  • Project management information systems and reporting as it relates to control of scope, scheduling and cost;
  • Government regulations, legislation and standards, safety regulations and procedures applicable to the project;

They should also have:

  • Sound judgement; highly developed time management, organizational, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills; excellent analytical and problem solving skills;
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and work with multi-disciplined teams, deal with complex issues, and maintain effective working relationships;
  • Proven team player with the skills and ability to build and maintain internal and external relationships.
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate, influence and obtain cooperation from a diverse group of internal and external project stakeholders to achieve the goals and objectives of the project;
  • Ability to perform as a team player and maintain internal and external relationships.
  • Proficiency in the use of a PC and software applications related to the work (Microsoft Office);
  • A valid Province of Ontario Class “G” Driver’s license;

Responsibilities:
